Hi guys!
I love guild wars i think it is a great game, but the one thing that dissapointed me was the music. The music isnt that great, it seems all to Lord of the ring type music.
I hate that. Some of them are good, but if you compare the music score to Final Fantasy X.
That had awesome music and a mix between sad and happy. This guild wars music has nothing but Apocolypse type music. You know what i do? I go to options and turn the music off, open windows media player and play my own music from there.
Its much more fun and upbeat. What do you guys think about that music???
Thanks
Samx

I love the Crystal Desert one, the others I can't really remember.

I also love the starting one since I play the Chinese instrument myself.

I have music volume down low, so that I barely hear it. Just a background thing for me. I don't play games to listen to the music.

Try upgrading your account with the music from DirectSong: http://www.directsong.com/

There's a free pak to download, and if you like it, you can buy additional music paks, which will play instead of the original in-game music.

Cheers

I like the music in Guild Wars purely because it gives that epic feel to it(like LOTR). The music really fits the game perfectly. I wouldn't expect to go into a game like Guild Wars and hear a load of heavy beats with synths flying around everywhere in the background, fankly i'd be dissappointed if that was the case, it would ruin the vibe that Guild Wars has.

Like you say, if you don't like it turn it off and play something else, but the music certainly isn't bad just because you don't like it.

i dont mind mystic music while playing but i would enjoy some jolly, dwarven dancing music or something similar while in town or outpost ( like droks ).. cmon so many ppl in towns need to have some fun .. u cant realy brakedance to some meditating music..

Give us some dwarven ale and lets begin with party!

just get winamp running on the background, the current music is great... I mean they could get something less repetitive like Tchaikovsky or Holst, but it fits with the game.
and btw its not mystic/meditating/lotr kind of music, the name is 'Classic'.

trance is a drum beat looping for about 20 minutes and then changes to a slightly diferent drum beat for another 20 minutes, and so on...

I always turn ingame music off. I like to actually hear the game itself. Plus without music on you can hear the little audio clues and such.

Your music level must have been too high for that. I find that most of the music is at a low enough level for you to hear every sound effect.

I put my music on max during the FPE and still could hear the effects fine.
The general genre of music for guild wars is labeled Sountrack/Instrumental.

I like the music for GW, I miss the old GW theme though it was better. It does get soemwhat repetive though, could of used more content.

Trance is a 1|4 beat electronic track usually around 120-140bps.

Sometimes I listen to the in game music, othertimes bust out jetaudio/winamp :P

I do the same. Not only for GW, but for every game, unless the music is exceptionally good.

My music is currently off. Most online games I've played I tend to leave music on when I start off. But after playing a while and listening to the same tracks over and over I switch to playing my own music in the backround with Winamp.

I don't really listen to it, I have it on and leave my speakers on, at a low volume, so I can hear my skills and stuff(I can't play without that...), but usually I just throw a CD into my stereo beside me, lately it's been "Dane Cook - Harmful If Swallowed"; but yeah..the in-game music isn't *important* to me.
