Thanks to Racthoh for the W/X Spider Cave farming. I probably would not have thought to try this if I had not been killing spiders on my Warrior.
Here are the results:
Taking on the first group of free-roaming Ancient Skales
Trying to take on a group of stationary skales. They won't come close enough to trigger the traps.
The last two Armored Cave Spiders at the entrance.
Just outside the cave. We did kill the remaining two dryders.
Velius accidently went inside the cave and the first group of Armored Cave Spiders unearthed. We were able to take out two by luring them into traps. We died from the other four due to running around poisoned, like idiots.
If you want to try(I'm going to try this next time) this I suggest trapping at the entrance before going in. Then the spiders will emerge from the ground right into the traps. Then(not sure if this works)run up to where the spiders drop from the ceiling and start trapping, they should descend on the traps?
You cannot take on the stationary groups of Ancient Skales, they will not follow into your traps(from our experience.)
I was trying this solo before I decided to get a partner to help. Solo, I was able to take out the first group of Snarling Driftwood, the first Doubter's Dryder, and I managed to take the three Ancient Skales down to a sliver of health, until they used Grenth's Balance(I got too close to them.) I'm convinced the shore is soloable, I'm unsure about the cave though.
For the cave with two people. Both trap and then one goes and lures, when Troll Unguent can no longer guarantee their survival they use Storm Chaser and run far back behind the second Ranger. This second Ranger then takes charge of leading the spiders into the traps.
When taking on the Ancient Skales you need to be ready to use Smite Hex on the Ranger who is luring when they have Life Transfer on them. If they only have Life Siphon on them, don't waste Smite Hex. Wait until they have both on them.

How are the drops? I haven't spider farmed in awhile, so I'm not sure bout gold frequency etc.

We got a little over one platinum each. No shards. We were not very lucky, I usually see 1-3 shards off the Snarling Driftwood alone and I've seen the most gold drops come from the Doubter's Dryders. When I tried solo, I got a shard off the first group of Snarling Driftwood. The only thing I can really say about the drops is that they are random.

Pull the whole lot of ACS around the corner where you are safe and the other ranger can just barrage em all to death. You can probably 2 man this with a tank and barrage ranger. hmmmm.....
