Rubys & Saphs: Value in Factions?

Not that I saw in the FPE, anyone know if this is confirmed from people who actually know? (Anet staff usually)

Actually, You're wrong. Gaile never said they'd be used in Factions at all. She merely said that they'd be used in the future. Everyone is stockpiling them and they don't even know if they'll have any use at all in Factions. It's possible that they won't be used until Chapter 3 or later. It's possible that they'll eventually work a use for them into the original Prophecies Campaign sometime after the release of Factions. No one knows.

I got no problem with ppl doing this as long as A.net is not thinking:

Everyone is just spculating. EVery one of them I sold to the material trader. They just aren't worth betting on. We already know jade and amber are needed for 15k. So unless the "FoW-equivalent" needs them, there will be no use for them.

i think they will get some use now... notice the vials of ink needed for ritualist armors

I'm hoping that their prices in factions plummets, for example, there will be an area that drops saphs and rubies like mad.

Someone asked are they going to be of any value when factions comes out. She replied they will be of value but might not be as much as they are now. They will be of use but might be more common in the game.

I have some, becuase they dropped for me. So im keeping them as the gamble instead of selling them. ( i dont need money that bad). It couldnt hurt to have a few.
I hope they do have a use for armor or something, cause I think they would look nice if u can actually see the detail of rubies or sapphires on your clothes....who knows it will be the "bling" of Cantha lol :P

Being that the equivalent of 15k armor will require Amber and Jadeite, if I were one that spent huge sums in investing in Rubies/Sapphires, I'd be pretty afraid right now. Nothing was ever confirmed regarding the use of Rubies/Sapphires in Factions, so don't be too surprised if we see these items dropping from 6.5k back down to 200g almost instantly.
Although it's pretty neat that anyone can have access to Amber/Jadeite buy spending faction points, I think that still encourages grinding/farming in the sense that people will farm for any faction they can get their hands on.
But about the Rubies and Sapphires, it's difficult to say for sure since all we have to go on right now are rumors.

I dont really stalk gaile and her chat logs (though they are informational) I was in LA Int once and the massive crowd of people asking questions was just annoying but thats an entire different issue.
