same thing....just when you die, you have a death penalty, thus giving you 33hp without the -50 icon. use the -20 and have 13hp

is a healing ark +12 energy(req 11 healing) -20hp any good?

Actually, I think it is. When you're 55ing your healing is at 12-13 so the req doesn't really matter, and as opposed to the +3 nrg from the presear -20 hp quest item, this gives +12, and more max energy is always welcome to a 55 monk. I can't put an exact price on it but I think it'd be worth something. Go into the trade forums from the GWGuru main page and make a post in the price check section. Someone over there should know what it's worth.

I did read that max ones with -20 are highly prized among the 55ing elite.

Ya they are, and like it was stated before they are used when a 55 dies. He or she can switch to the -20 item and get more health that way. If i remember correctly when you die once you are automatically at 1 health, some people just remove the -50 item, others use the -20, that way its only 1 dmg per hit instead of 5.

That's exactly what a -20 offhand is used for, although it is not really necessary as just removing the -50 is more than enough.
The legendary -20 axe though, is another story. It would be able to bring a monk's health, without any dp, down to 35hp. And that would be really useful. However, the item was taken out of the game, and an axe like that will go for HUGE amount (I.e. on the same scale as a perfect 15>50 crystalline)
