What would have happened if.....

What would have happened if I would have kept Guild Wars running constantly from the moment I bought it? I mean without logging out to do updates and what not. Would I have had my game crash or, more interestingly, still had access to the pre-nerf fun stuff? ie. protective bond, griffon farming, etc etc.

As far as I know, when a new update comes along, the server side is updated while the people on the old part are kept on another part of the server until they log off and update. I'm sure there's a limit to how long they keep the old one running.
Josh
No. As you would've got kicked of automatically for when things like server rollback, server crashes, and it'd automatically update those areas when you tried to portal to them.

plus the chances are you would have err 7'nd even if none of the above happened.

Guild Wars will disconnect you if you are on too long.

Yes, The Game Crashes on you after so long (hours) after an update that you havent downloaded.
i think one guy made it 12 hours.

I didn't actually think it would work for very long. But woulda been cool if it would have. I woulda been nose deep in gold and ectos.

Well, the game streams all of the content. I'm sure if you try to enter a zone and you are missing an important update for that zone, it will stream all of the content before it lets you go in (that's what the loading screens are FOR)
And if you are online when a critical update comes along, like a change in skills or something, your client will force you to adopt the new changes as soon as you enter another loading (obviously it wouldn't go and change your skills up if you are in the middle of a mission!)
That's what I think anyway... You can't get away with playing in an "outdated" world because every time you go to a new place it checks to make sure your content is up to date. :P

I do know ( and I'm sure many of you HoH'ers have had this too ) that after a new build is available, you cant get any further because "The server doesn't support your current version" and you are forced to quit..
