i know alot of ppl make threads about asking oh what class is better and such so sorry if this is somewhere else. But anyways I havent played GW in forever and i just remember that factions was coming out and i thought that would be a good time to start over and get myself back into the game, I really dont care for the ritualist from what i have read but the assassin seem cool, but the question is what professions does assassin go with and is it better as a primary or a secondary? i was thinkin of making a warrior assassin or vice versa but I dont know which way or build would be most favorable

I prefer using them with a Warrior or Ranger for attack speed buffs, but there are many other uses. You could use elementalist for conjures, monk for strength of honor, mesmer for Illusionary Weaponry (although you may want Me primary for that) and so on. And that's just the attack buffs.

Assassins go very well with Municiple Worker 2ndary... if they gonna be trash, then at least be able to pick it up after, I say.

E/A looked like a good build.

Especially for fire eles.

Teleport between a bunch of enemies, unleash hordes of AOE spells, then teleport back before they can even attack you back.

(Well, maybe a tiny over-exaggerated, but sounds good, no =-P?)

its not really which profession does it go with, its more like which is easier, cause its been said many times, u can make any combo work.
To me assasin looks like a faster warrior, but to downside it, less armor. So work your sec. prof deciding and builds that way.

Yeah, assassin goes well with anything, but it depends on what you want to do with your character that makes any combination more valuable than another. For me, A/Rt is going to be the most useless combo in the game, I've tried make some good builds to follow my gameplay style, and it just doesn't work.

But I've been able to make some concept A/Mo, A/E, and A/R builds that will hopefully prove to be more useful.

yeah A/Rt is pretty useless, maybe some weapon spells but that would be it...although you could use spirit walk

I'm happy A.net did not create a synenergy between A's and Ri's, so less people will pick them

Before the preview I was planning on going A/Rt but after I tried it, it doesnt look any good.

Right now I'm thinking about A/W for stances and/or breaking stances or A/N with curses. Rigor mortis will help against wars and rangers using stances against me. Then theres barbs and weaken armor to give some extra damage.

I think I'm going to go A/W. The only warrior skill I will probably actually use often would be Watch Yourself! for extra armor. As said before there are a lot of good combos, but I think this might be the best (for PvE at least).

I'm going to be creating an A/Me myself. Have it planned out already.

As guildies and friends of mine want to do an A/R Bow Attack user, centering on Critical Hits to improve Marksmanship.

From the looks of it I'd say A/Me would be potent. The mesmer line could help in sustaining the oh so suicidal/fragile Assassin, also give good degen. I personally am debating in either making a A/Me or Rt/?, I did both in the FPE and couldn't make up my mind. Assassin takes a rather high degree of coordination to use properly so it might be interesting, though they appeared rather weak. :/ Only time will tell.

Assassin primary will probably be lousy with any caster secondary besides Mesmer, because of the low, low energy level. I tried A/N for example, and my energy would wipe early into battle, and that's with 10-point skills, not 15-E wells and all.

The only reason A/Me would work would be for the excellent Inspiration energy-recovery skills. It might work with Glyph of (L) Energy / Renewal on the Ele side, but Ele skills in general are also very energy-expensive. Which is too bad, because I was hoping to do some close-combat A/N builds with Vile / Vampiric Touch and all.

Assassin primaries would work well with /W and /R secondaries, and possibly /Mo just for some in-a-pinch self-healing.

Assassin would work well as a secondary for a number of caster builds, though, especially as a way to evade attack (handy for monks and eles), any Necros wanting to do V Touch builds, and Mesmers needing to switch rapidly back and forth between targets and then evade. Me/A would be true subterfuge and very powerful if done right, but an extremely difficult setup to operate.

Sounds like a good challenge.

I'd have to disagree with you SisterMercy, I think Assassins can be valid primaries with any caster as a secondary. With elementalists, for example, you could use Magnetic Aura. It uses 5 energy, and makes it difficult for melees to hit you. Or, you could use water buffs like Armor of Mist(10 energy, +def and +speed) or Armor of Frost(5 energy, +phys def). If you're not so worried about melees(say you know you're going to be up against rangers and such) you can use Swirling Aura(10 energy, %50 chance to block arrows and magical projectiles).

And that's just for Elementalists. I'm not going into detail for the other classes.

This would work too, if you doubled up such buffs with the Critical Strike attribute, along with skills like the Golden Lotus Strike(lead) and Golden Phoenix Attack(off-hand), you can easily maintain a lot of energy.
