What weapon/offhand should I be using?

I've got a level 20, ascended, blah blah blah Necromancer. I've been using essentially the same Truncheon and Off-Hand since the beggining of the game. I need to know what I should be using for each seperate attribute (i.e. what should I use for Blood Magic, Death Magic, Curses, etc.). Currently my secondary is Mesmer, but that varries and changes quite often.

Also, what runes should I use on my Necro?

depends on what kind of necro you wanna be, minion master? SS? order? spiker?

You can't go wrong with the collector offhands. I use the ones that give 20/20. As for a weapon anything that gives you energy would do nicely. There are collector weapons that give +15 to energy but -1 energy regen,also they arent max damage but that really doesn't matter. Also if you exploit corpses having Bloodstained Boots is a nice thing to have. There are also Green items that can help you out. Most of the good ones however are very expensive and are not in many players budgets

czyman, can you tel me were i can get a nice MM staff, or a nice ofhand + weapon. i need 10+ energy and 30+ health, wouldbe happy if you could help me :P

Well, a lot of MM's use Bortak's Bone Staff, which is ridiculously overpriced. It's 20/20 Death, Insightful, and Shelter. Goes for over 50k. So what I suggest doing is getting the Collector's Bone Staff (5 Mino Horns, guy right outside of Elona), then buying mods. You can buy the Insightful for no more than 10k, and then whatever you want for the wrapping. I got a Defense for 3k. So I've pretty much got a replica of Bortak's Bone Staff (- the Black Dye) for less than 14k, while the real thing is worth 50k.

Gold Cesta/Truncheon with 5nrg, 10 universal, or 20 DM speed.

Recharge is dumb with DM. None of the skills you'll be using needs to get recharged fast (not even Verata's). Speed, however, is vital, esp. if there is anything that might use up the corpses (ex. Sorrow's Furnace).

Staves for DM are... cool but inferior to Bortak's set.

Also use scars + bloodstained boots for even faster summon speed. If you choose a staff, go with a 5 defense mod.

FYI - If your a curse necro there is a 20/20 collector staff outside Augury Rock near Destinys Gorge that takes 5 Hydra Claws. Hes near the teleport to the East by Destinys. I think

i have just got 35k, and need to buy scar, sup, and skills, so ive been thinkin about morgriffs staff, i know, its better whit 20/20 but anyway.. its much cheaper.. i will maybe get collector whit mods then..

I use 3 20/20 collector's staves, 1 for each attribute, all +5 insightful and with a 20% +1 attribute wrapping. On my fourth slot I use a collector's +15/-1 wand, and a +27/-1 focus, for energy management, switching to it when I need an extra boost and then switching back to regen. The Green Necro items, particularly Bortak's crap, is completely overrated and overpriced in my opinion, since you can do just as good or better with collector items. This will be especially true when Factions comes out since we'll be getting full 20/20 wands, max energy DM +1 focii, and max damage +15/-1 items from collectors. The only Necro Green I use and recommend is Kole's Torment since a good 10/10 staff is always useful for mixed attribute builds. It's also better than Morgriff's Staff (the other 10/10) since +5 Insight and +30hp is way better, imo, than 2 +5 armor mods.

As far as other gear, get the Bloodstained Boots since they work now and come in handy when doing MM. Also, I have a face scar of each attribute with a Sup Rune of that attribute on it. I switch them depending on the build I wanna run. I personally don't like using more than 1 Sup, and have never found it necessary, but other people do, so maybe try it out as well.

I prefer the desert collector trucheon and the maguma colector focus item +1 death +30 health

I can see where recharge is less important for Death than for most other casting attributes, but I'd think it would be pretty valuable for Curses at least, if not Blood also.

For MM, I use a the +1 DM, +30 Health / 10 energy thingy from Maguuma Stade, with a collecter DM Truncheon.

When I use Blood Magic, I have a collector 20/20 Cruel staff, with Insightful and enchanting mods.

For Curses, I have a 20/20 collector staff with Defensive of Defense mods.

I use a 15/1 (8%casting all skills)
and the shade stone +12 +30 +10%casting


I get 18% halves casting all skils
27 energy
30hp

(With only -1 regen)

In total I have 64 energy with a +3 regen.

Im always fully loaded.

The death focus item is Ingrid Larson, she is in Maguma Stade, south of Hedge of Denravi, she wants 5 mossy mandibles, my Warroir gets them out side of Aurora Glade

The death wand comes from Crystal Desert, named Arliss Vaughn he wants 5 griifion wings, which are a little harder to come by since the nerf. He is by the portal to the Scar, take the north gate out of Destiny's Gorge, use the trasnporter, hug the edge of the path and go the the right gate, but don't go trough. You can leave out of the north gate out of Aurgury Rock also.

There is always the bone staff outside of Elona Reach, he just wants 5 minotaur horns

For curses I use Uderit Ignis, out side of Dunes of Despair, he wants 5 jade mandibles for a curse wand, can't avoid killing madibles. For the focus I use Cinder Linwood, she wants 5 bleached carpaces, and is north east of Elona Reach. Kind of off by herself, the sand drakes keep her company. You can alo get a +30 health from Maguma Stade in the north easthern corner Orison Cooper, wants 5 ancient eyes, kind of a pain to find, you'll defintely need a map.

I prefer the desert collectors, because for the most part, the collectors are easy to get to and the drops are plentiful.

I find that the colector stuff works just fine, no need for overpriced greens.

Runes: my MM uses sup death and major soul. My curse build uses sup curse and minor everything else.
