Firstly, yeah, okay, the guy didn't use paragraphs. Made it hell to read. End of story. Now either discuss the content of the post or go away.
Taking the time to post "I didn't read your post" is just about the stupidest, rudest waste of time I've ever seen.
I did read the post (in someone else's quote), and frankly, his point is perfectly valid. It worries me too. The interesting thing is, it worries nearly all of you, too, regardless of how much you stick your tongue out and make fun of the guy.
I say that because I read the arguments against his post. They fall into these categories:
1) I like big guilds full of strangers and am in one. I don't see why this is a problem!
2) You didn't use paragraphs, therefore you point is invalid!
3) I'm sure it won't work like that. Your complaint is premature!
The first type I don't really need to comment on. The system seems to be made for you. Groovy.
The second type I've already commented on. Say something constructive next time.
It's the third type of opposition that's the most useful, and yet the scariest.
See, it's true, the game isn't out yet and we don't know how it works, so we can all say, "Oh, I'm sure Anet isn't that stupid! Surely the system will make everyone totally happy!" However, if there's one thing I've learned from years of being in the business, and being a gamer, it's that developers follow the old rule of "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all."
This subject has been discussed a LOT on these forums. Many would say way too much. So, has Anet dropped a line to say, "Don't worry, guys. It's not like that. You'll all be very happy!"
No. It's quiet as a grave.
I'm not saying that means it'll suck, but frankly, I think that seriously increases the chance that it'll work just like everyone's saying it will when they complain, and if you think that will suck... then it probably will.
I'm not sure I care. I like exploring new places. I'm in a guild with a whole 3 people (once had 5! Whee!). If the system sucks for small guilds, I'll probably just ignore it and still have fun. But, wouldn't it be much better if I didn't have to write off large chunks of the game as "not meant for me"?
I think it would.
See, I used paragraphs, so everything I said must be correct. (Doesn't it work both ways??)
