Shiro Tagachi - assassin or warrior?
Tingi
When I saw the Factions Cinematic i was like "oh awsome assassins own!". But it Shiro an assassins or a warrior:
Is he an Assassin? - He wields 2 blades, His eyes glowed assassins colours at the begining, when he dies hes shrouded in assassin colours (red/purply/orange).
Is he a warrior? - he's wielding SWORDS not daggers, he's pretty big (not that has much to do with it but i couldnt think of anything else)
I would prefer his to be an assassin jst to make factions seem cooler.
Wat do u think?

oh yea and he "assassinated" the emporer
Theos
He, and all of the people who fought him excluding Visu, were Warriors. Visu was an assassin, and the four dead Ritualists were... well Ritualists.
Avarre
Hes a warrior. He uses two large swords, and just uses the skill Hundred Blades in the cinematic to rip everyone up. He moves with more force than finesse, and an assassin devastatingly outstripped him.
He also has armor...

I agree with Avarre - definitely a warrior. Just because he was smart enough to strike down the emperor while he was busy praying doesn't mean he has the stealth of an assassin. The dual sword action when the guards flooded in was definitely warrior-like.

Since most humans are descended from a certain point, perhaps they just happened to be an example of parallel evolution. It stands to reason that if someone was born in Tyria with 100b, likewise in Cantha.
kalvon
He could be a Warrior/Assassin.
Eclair
I just hope when we fight him in the game, he's not a hammer warrior =/
Syi
He and Devona are in their own special professions. D:

No he isn't an assassins, he isn't a warrior either, he is a mad hairdresser who murdered the Emperor for wearing a hood thus covering the masterful hair-do he fixed the Emperor with. That day he murdered the Emperor, Shiro had a reaaaaaaaal bad hair day, as you can see from the video.

Nevin
I think hes just plain evil... Thats like saying, What was the Lich? A Necromancer?
Lawnmower
the girl from guild wars cores cinematic also dual wielded swords...
perhaps there will be a dual wielding swords class in a later proffesion?

None of his attacks are assassin, he just happens to have the item 'Dual Ancient Swords of Defence' (he blocks a few times, so thats my best guess).
Hes W/Ri.

no no.. look at his armour, that shoulder peice gives it away as Ranger Armour..
with the swords indicating warrior..
My Vote is Ranger/Warrior.
As for all the power that he absorbs.. well, if you notice they are surrounded by ritualist who are chanting, and they all have their head gear on.
Its obviously some big ceremony that is going on, and Shiro kills the guy releasing all that power into the nearest person, being him.
I suspect thats why all the rits die so quick as well, they have no energy left.

Obviously he was a mesemer. No one was able to touch him when his unlimited distortion was up. Until the assassin got lucky and hit through the 75% dodge.
He also planned the assassination of the emperor like how mesemer plan a monk's death. No one knew what the mesemer was doing until the monk start screaming.
Illusion of haste with 33% speed, that ritualist didn't even see it comming.
Two handed IW slicing through everyone's armor like the armor wasn't there in the first place.
The moment his IW get strip, two warriors rushed in and send him to the grave. (if he was a warrior, he wouldn't have get own so fast, at the moment after he lost his weapons)
Face it... HE IS MESEMER!
=================
Ok, done with the absurd.
I would say he is a warrior if one must categorize him with human playable class.
If anything, he is same class as the flame djin. With primary of a monster, and 2ndary of a warrior. something like that...

My guess would be that hes an assassin, i remember there was a assassin boss close to the starting area in the FPE using a pair of Eternal (swords?) that matches the same length as shiro's dual (sword?).
This is a wild guess but it seems to point towards the possbility of "daggers" that would have skins that are as long as perhaps shortswords giving the perception of dual weilding sword. Let us pray together now that this will be so.

It's possible we will, in the future, receieve the prefix 'dual' which allows double wielding. He uses the skill hundred blades, riposte, wears armor, yells loudly, moves heavily and not stealthly, and he has blue soul draining energy. Why is this even a discussion?

EDIT : Eh, more to the point, why would the personal bodyguard of the emperor be an assassin?
Raxxman
Uh... HB and Riposte are proph skills... as is Glads defense.
He just used the pre nerf to boost his attack speed to 166% by IWAYing and TF. It was 2,000 years ago
Warrior ranger

Warrior ranger
Thallandor
hmm good point, he does seem more warrior like. Hopefully the day will come warriors will get the 'dual' prefix without creating too much unbalance in the game.
Personal bodyguards would often be related to warrior types usually, but in Feudal Japan, damiyos have been known to have been protected by Shinobi (Not necessary Ninja assassins) which also takes up paramiltary policing work in times of peace.

Plus he has all this long hair on the go... along with the fact that his armour doesnt look heavy and warrior like..
I still say Ranger Warrior.
Avarre
I think we're agreed that warrior fits in, and not assassin, however. Whether his second part is ritualist (secondary) or ranger (primary) is something that's a bit hard to tell. Still say W/Ri though
After he gets slashed by Visu, his turning around movement is fairly bulky and slow, not a whirling-around like I'd expect from a ranger.

you dont really know how all this immense power pouring out of his slit wrists effect the control he has over his body.. after all he didnt seem able to make any attempt to defend himself from the double final thrust

Rhedd
Let's see... He's got armor with little skulls and horns on it, his face is covered in ritual scarring, and every time he kills someone, he absorbs their souls, making him more powerful...
Oh, yeah, I'm sure he's either a Warrior or an Assassin, I just can't figure out whicNECROMANCER!
Never try to guess the class of a villain based on their weapon. Villains are allowed to do anything that looks cool. Like duel wield.
Necromancer.

Seeing how he killed about 10-15 guards in like 30 seconds, it reminds me of the Diablo II Skill: Whirlwind
.
And I agree with Avarre; he's definately a warrior. Warlord perhaps?
#EDIT#:
Did anyone notice the way he turns around when he's about to kill the last Ritualist? He doesn't turn like a warrior, but more arrogant and stylish. Perhaps a ranger or assassin?

But those are for 'sin claws only

Anyways... well most warriors are arrogant (WIT MENDING I TANK ALL!). In any case, the man took on a huge group of enemies just after that, he has a right to have a little swagger.
He's still W/X (X = ranger/necro/rit/sin) though in my view.
Cirian
His overall hair and armour are quite ranger-ish to me, so I'd go for a R/A to build an actual likeness of him with a player character.
As far as the story goes though, well he has to be one of the new classes really
From past experience of the Lich, I'll say he's a L30 Assassin with a few monster-only skills
