ThunderHead Keep Hard Again
Bill Carson
I'm like many other that are having a difficult time getting past this mission since Anet decided to change it around once again. Anet nerfed the mission just a little while back and it then it were possible to complete this mission without any major problems with PUGS or with henchmen. The way the mission is now players get over run when the Murrsat Boss comes since they all come to fast instead like how it used to be with little bit more time between their attack runs.
Now I understand that people want a challange and that’s all fine and dandy but with that said. Anet needs to think of all players’ skill levels and abilities. Since players play this game from all walks of life and don’t have all the same abilities like everyone else does. To some extent Anet is catering to the "Elite" players and that in turns into more diversity, & runner scams within the game while only the Elite players can get past certain things. Leaving the rest of trying like hell to get past certain things or we have pay and hope that we don’t get scammed by a runner.
So I’m very displeased with the entire mission changing and it’s uncalled for when you say you make it easier one day in updates notes and then undo it without posting it in update release notes.

Uhhh, after doing it three times in the last couple days, it hasn't changed at all.
It's is entirely possible to do this with just hench, and it always was possible. I mean seriously, whining about the difficulty of an end game mission is pretty sad.

Maybe there's shorter interval between the mobs, though. I remember the first time I played it that the mission went on for ever, with mobs dropping in now and then, but the last times it's been pretty frantic, with a more or less constant stream of mobs.
It's still perfectly manageable with henches though (guess how I play).

Two friends and I completed this mission and bonus last week with henchmen. It did not seem like it has changed any bit. If anything, it seemed easier to do than before.
You can plan and strategize all you need. But from my observation with many past groups, the very basic and simple rule that seems to lead some teams to demise and others to success is to leave the boss to last.

Yes make THK harder again!!! Please!
Wait...this is a complaint??
The Mursaat Boss should be the LAST one you worry about, because you will be swarmed by other bad guys. Thats always how its been .-.

Yeah it was hard until i started doing it teh way Lyra just mentioned - even with the warrior boss we managed it 2 days ago without many problems. My only problem during the defend part was that as an MM i was having a lot of trouble mainatining more than 4 fiends.

Looked through the recent updates...nothing about THK.
Methinks i know what your problem is bub. Tell the jerk with the blue torch to STOP LIGHTING THOSE BEACONS! More enemies appear when you do, making the game longer and harder, more enemies charging in to attack you.

I completed THK on my 6th try, I think, because my guildie helped me organize the team. We had one disconnection, but it wasn't even a leaver, a sincere disconnect, and we still beat mission and bonus without a single death. I never went below half health once. It's all in how you do it.

Its not THK thats hard its finding a good PUG at THK that's hard.

iv been this mission first try with 3 character, 2 which were during when it was "hard". It was never such a thing, my first time we didnt even have a plan going in, i didnt even know what i was doing, we simply had 2 guys on the cata and more or less ppl running back and forth killing the mobs that got through. Iv they have speeded the mission up by having the mobs come sooner, thanks, its always really boring doing the mission because the mobs have a gab of like 5 minutes, quite annoying. You dont have to be elite to beat this mission, just dont listen to all the noobs that require you to have a certain build that must be perfect in order to complete it.

THK isn't hard. last time I did it we grabbed a PUG tank to hold the torch. After we killed off most of the Mursaat waves he suddenly said:
"Found the infused armor"
Turns out we had been playing that while he had 4 uninfused armor pieces on, and he didn't die. It got much eaiser once he switched to his infused set

First of all, don't light the tourches. Secondly I did it last week and we got through on the first run. Third, if you are having problems keeping the dwarf king alive, I heard life bond or something like that will also work on the damage that mussrat give.
shardfenix
i completed thk with 3 non-infused people on my team (i was the only monk after our healer disconnected, boon prot ftw!) and we beat it relatively easily, for only 4 of us. You don't need to be skilled to get past thk.

Besides, theres plenty of games out there that are pretty difficult and where not everyone will see the credits at the end. If you make it so that everyone can finish the game, literally everyone, it's going to be much too easy for the majority of the people playing it.

The way I see it, this mission helps determine if you're learned to play or not. I always love it when I play a game that gradually gets more challenging - actually challenging, not simply higher level.
Take for instance a game like Metroid Prime. In the beginning I had struggled with many of the battles. I overcame challenges as I played through the game. Then when I started playing the game again on Hard mode, the first part that I struggled with before was a cake walk. Not because Hard mode wasn't actually hard, just because I mastered the controls and learned to play the game with skill. It's rather satisfying when that happens in games.
There are plenty of RPGs where battles do not technically get more challenging, just higher level, which you can match by leveling up. Not that they're bad games. They just focus more on story telling or other aspects. ANet clearly wanted this game to be about skill instead (as evidenced by their crappy story). I want THK to be fairly challenging. In fact, I think several missions in this game should be more challenging.

Thunderhead Keep has never been hard.
Henchies usually > PUGs for it, too.

THK isn't harder, and there are quite a few other threads to discuss THK in. Closed.
