Question about Salvaging items for Mods

Can anyone tell me how will you know if you salvage an item for its mod to get suffix (exp. + 25 health or +5 armor). Whenever I salvage an item to get suffix, I ended up with prefix like Ebon, Firey, etc...The other day I tried to salvage a Vamp mod on Axe, I eneded up with +14 health..omg..i was so pissed... . Is there a way to get what mods you want to salvage.

Nope it's a crap shoot. If you have multipe mods on a weapon you could get either of them or you could get iron ingots and wood. LoL It's more or less random.
