The "Dungeon" That Will Save The Game
pappayaponta
The "updated" dungeon.
Name: Korrian Ruins
Structure: EDIT(thanks to kvndoom): The dungeon 5 floors. Each floor could be any one of 5 different maps for that floor, and the enemies for that floor would be varied too. One floor might be a Stone Summit motiff, one might be high-level Charr, or Titans, or Undead, etc. but it would never be the same thing twice. Imagine a Sand/Frost/Chaos Wurm-infested level. Sweetness. And each floor would have a decent boss you'd have to take down before advancing further in the dungeon.
Before entering the final floor of the dungeon, you have to pass the ultimate test- overcome yourselves. You face a team of Dopplegangers, with the exact stats, weapons, and skills your team has. Get past them and then you earn the right to face the endgame. And you have a time limit too, so if you stalemate you get warped back into town. Got a team of 8 55HP monks? Fine, try to kill 8 55HP monks in 10 minutes. Barrage / Pet / Minion squad? Taste your own medicine! Sure the AI is crappy, but with all else being completely equal, it should still be a challenge. In that way you must make an "ordinary" team to have the biggest chance of completeing this.At the end of the last floor you meet a level 43 boss(KORRIAN). He will be extremely hard to kill and you will have to count with 15 minutes to bring him down. When he dies he have a 30% chance of dropping the amulet of Korrian. Other drops are some new greens gold, shrads, ectos and so on.
WHen you get back to the connecting outpost you can go and talk to Huyin [Reward]. He will trade in the Amulet of korrian for a red item, it works like this:
EDIT(Thanks to Nevin): HOW THE RED ITEM WORKS:
This will you be able to choose if you are the lucky one...
Item Type - Bow, Sword, Axe, Staff, Wand, Focus, Shield, Hammer, Daggers..
Bow Type (If picked) - Short Bow, Long Bow, Recurve Bow, Flat Bow, Horn Bow.
Item Req - 7-12
Base Mod - Damage +15% (while health is above 50%), Damage +15% (while enchanted), Damage +15% (while in stance), Damage +20% (while hexed), Damage +20% (while health is below 50%)
Mod 1 - Depends on item type.
Mod 2 - Depends on item type.
Customization - Players name of choice. (Must be accurate spelling)
Graphical Skin - 3 choices of skins one evil themed, one nuetral, one good themed, Undyable.
How to get to koriian ruins: The way there will be hard though. You have to do a chain-quest that willbe done in all different parts of the world. Use the unexplored areas for this quest area.
It could be placed under the ground but the connecting outpost will be placed in some of the unexplored areas in the world.

what is there to be saved in the game?
anyway, lvl 43 will be impossible, everyone that made the bonus at glint remembers her, you must remember her if you made the bonus, she was lvl 38, many strange skills, she was easy when you finally knew how to handle the 3 eggs, else if you didn't do anything with the eggs you died in 2 hits so lvl 43? even though those bosses don't posess any strange healing skills and that crap glint got you don't stand a chance. As it will most certainly jump on the minks first.
Red items? they get customized for the one they dropped to, now if he/she who got it doesn't pick it up and it gets pickable for anyone, does it get customized for the picker then? Is it a green customized, gold, blue, regular?

I wasn't aware the game needed saving... how does this save it?
The only notable thing I see is the introduction of 'red' items, but having them customized like that just takes them outside the economy, rather than doing anything to repair it, and the economy is probably the only element of the game that needs work (save henchie AI, which is improved in Factions, and perhaps Beast Mastery).

What if you're going through with your Echo Nuker and trying to get the Red Item sword? But its customized to you, and on your warrior you can't find a group?
I suggest something which has been commonly suggested before. When you get through, let the boss have a 5-15% chance of dropping a chest. When the designated player opens the chest, He sees a window.
Item Type - Bow, Sword, Axe, Staff, Wand, Focus, Shield, Hammer, Daggers..

I farm every 'red item' with each of my characters and get each item. I never have to come back to this place again, because there is nothing to 'farm' that i can't get in an easier place..
The only thing that would need to be saved would be this dungeon, it wouldn't be worth the trouble. I could just do UW for ecto, SF for greens and anywhere else for golds.

Lexar
Also it sounds a lot like the current tombs of the primeval kings but with rarer and already customised drops at the end.

43 is such a random number.
I like the idea of a 12 person farm team, except one item dropping from the whole thing would make nobody ever want to go. Sides, its too much like the new HoH

A.) Don't title your thread what you did, if you can't take the time to flesh out.
B.) Determine if the game actually needs saving.
C.) 43? Why 43?

Ooh.. I get it...
So if you go to this dungeon, it will save your progress in the game, right?
but in all cases... Yes.. more Dungeon is good. But would make it more accessible. The blance of red item, and its possible impact on the economy, will have to be play tested to tell. SM Dungeon is a great RP fun.

Anet doesn't want super items to ruin the game. Your concept of a more special then anything item seems a bit far in that direction.
What needs saving?

It is an interesting idea.
I see it this way:
A dungeon where tricky builds do not work because all kind of skills have to be countered. That is allright.
Red items which are not tradable, for those who have completed the mission (the probability to get one should be rather high). May be, this red items would not be better weapons but somekind of wearable item that people can see. Earning a red item would be in PvE equivalent to earning Fame in PvP.
And, additionaly, it might be that to completed this mission would give for a short time the favor of the gods.

I agree, the game is at the peak at the moment, and seeing Factions is coming, no need for a savior but Jesus .

If my max level is 20 why send me after a monster/mob/boss that is level 43? Doesnt seem balanced.
nimloth32
errr..a dungeon that allows 10-12 ppl to party together for adventure is nice..but for red item, i would not suggest that coz GW is not a game that emphasize on item..meaning it is not item based but skill based instead..and the creep in GW:F is tough enough already..i would not suggest anet increase the difficulty of the game even more..>.>
Dougal Kronik
Instead of this super hard dungeon - have entrances into the UW of FoW located in the wilderness when you don't have Favor. Like the Temple to Grenth in Lornar's Pass.

A level 43 will just mean prople bring prot spirit.
Red items = bad idea.
big papi
game doesnt need saving
i wouldnt mind red items items that were customized as long as they werent to powerful and were only able to be used in pve or something\
a red 20>50 sword would be pretty cool but these are just my opinions

I think it would be cool to have something like this with a time limit so it forced people to hurry through it :-)
Eldin
Level 31 at the most, please. Glint is the most powerful creature on Tyria, and she is level 31. The Lich is level 30, but he's a main character. The highest level "random enemy" is level 28...just add on some powerful skills.
This would be a good idea, though I can see all the picky requirements and people going "show us ur red items first or we kick nubs". No time limit, please. Strategic maneuvers take time.

I like things the way they are. If you start GW and you say: Crap, I don't know what I should do now... See a doctor.
Trylo
i liek the idea a lot, and yes the customized ON drop is ruining it, i like the spell the name of the customized char or even only one of your characters on your account so friends cant get one until theyve COMPLETED the game (they already ruined the amazement of droks) and red would just be like a green just a pretty skin i guess? i like it sounds like something that woul dmake me feel superior!

The dungeon should be random, sorta like a "super Diablo" romp.
Instead of just the same old boss every time, the final level would have 2 or 3 bosses from a pool of 5. again, never the same thing twice. And they should not be easy or predictable, but not impossible either. And screw the reds / greens / blues whatever. Beating the bosses opens the door to the Treasure Room. There will be a lot of gold for your party to share, and 4 or 5 chests that don't need keys, but from which every player can get one item. And NO PURPLES. They might not all be perfect, but the odds of getting a really good rare should be higher.
That's my suggestion anyway. Final Fantasy Tactics, Lufia 2, Tales of Phantasia, and many other games has bonus dungeons that were fun. GW could do it too and do it BETTER because it's cooperative, but the randomness is what would make it better.

Oh cool, just like high end WoW raids

How about the red items are just untradeable, then you can customize (or not ) for whoever you want on your roster
