Low Level Minion Master Tips
Boagrius
I've seen many great builds for MM's & how to keep the minions alive using skills like Veratas Sacrifice & Blood of the Master, etc. My question is what options are there for keeping Minions alive before I'm able to obtain these skills. I've been using "Heal Area" which works ok, but of course minions have to be in range. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any better low level skills I might be overlooking. My Necro is currently Lvl 13 & in Beacons Perch. It won’t be long before I can get the better Minion healing skills, but I'd still like to know what I could use for the time being. Thanks in advance for your help!

There are no other skills then the ones you mentioned. Your best bet is to just keep raising more minions to replace the ones that die.

Most people play as something else until they get the skills, u cannot really play as a low level mm. If you have a high level character that has accended you could use it to get the skills you need. Switch his second class to necro then get the skills. (you can have every second proffesion) Then they should be avaible at any skill trader for your new character. Good Luck MM are great characters =)

Thanks for the help! It wont be too long before I get the "good" MM skills. I am able to keep 6-8 minions for a decent amount of time, so could I at least call myself a "Junior" MM until then? (for pride's sake)

Even 6 is fine early on if you're only putting points in death and soul reaping. If this is your first character and you can't use an ascended character to unlock the better MM spells, you should keep an eye out for the Villainy of Galrath quest in Kryta. In addition to giving a 4000xp reward, it also shows you a spot where Verata likes to hang out. Galrath spawns in Verata's place, so you won't find Verata if anyone in your party has the Villainy of Galrath quest (you can avoid this by going again after you finish the quest and taking only henches, though it's hard). You can use signets of skill capture to get two good MM skills (Animate Bone Fiend and Verata's Sacrifice) from Verata.

I find bone fiend easier to cap of reversing the scales, Vertas sacrifice was nearly impossible with henchies, I got it by doing a litle PVP got 2000 factions traded it in for Verta's sac then bought it. Altough heal area and Blood of the master worked well enough.
You can cap verta if you go with a group of lvl 20 freinds.

I read on some online guide that Verata did NOT let you cap Verata's Sacrifice. (Probably Guildwiki.) I gather that's bad info?
As for low level -- my currently Level 14 necro went MM early on in Pre-, and hasn't looked back. True, I probably should have found another build for fighting from Bergen Hot Springs to Temple of Ages -- but I made it. The henchies provided corpses even when nothing else did ...

EDIT: Sorry guys, just re-read one of the above posts that already answered this question. I see you can unlock these skills with an ascended character. Sweet. I’ll be doing that tonight then. Thanks for all the help.

Early on the best thing you can do to keep your minions alive longer is simply to put as many attributes in death magic as possible while having minimal amounts in soul reaping and healing. Higher death magic means higher level minions with more health and armor so they survive longer.
