Just a small thought:
is it possible to have the 'Currently Active Users' list displayed alphabetical?
I've seen other forums that have this, and I always liked that.

As they are now, they're chronological by last click, which is why your name is always first. That can be changed, though, if I recall correctly.

Would other users like the list to be alphabetical as well?

(Keep in mind that doing this would strain the server more, though. While it may not be possible, it's worth getting a quick survey of what people would find best)

If it strains the server, forget the idea. it's not that important imho.

it would be nice, but extra strain really isnt worth it.

i agree with makkert. having it sorted would be a nice novelty, but not worth the extra strain it might place on the server.

I think this would be great, though if it strains the server too much then as others have said, it's not worth it.

That said, displaying by last click is also good for seeing if a user you're looking for is currently active (near the top) or away/doing something else (near the bottom).

Actually after checking for myself, the current list is random so there's no rhyme or reason whatsoever behind it. Not really sure how that's done but it appears that the only "sortable" mode is the alphabetical.

Actually, this would be a pretty handy addition. I'm with the others, if it'll put extra strain on the server it's not necessary, but otherwise I'm all for it. As it is now, I just highlight them and ctrl+f if I need to find someone there, but alphabetical would certainly be helpful if we could manage it without affecting the server load.

That would make it alot easier, if i want to see if someone ones its a pain to try to look through all the names at a glance. (i could do what pie does but i usually just glance over them to see if i see the name.) would make that alot easier. Though the strain on the server wouldnt make it worth the hassle.

Well, what do you think? Will it be too much of a strain to be worth doing, or... do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

I would still like to see it, we can always give it a try and see if it's ok or not.

Since I don't have the technical knowledge to predict what'll happen if it's implemented, I'd have to get that info before making any decisions. Also, it seems that people are content with the system as it is (even if they're not overly pleased with it), so it may not be worth the trouble in the end. I'll check it out though.

I think we should atleast give it shot. If it causes too muc hassle couldn't we just change it back?

Alphabetizing that list requires more strain on the server. That's the short and easy answer there, we are still working on finding a happy fix for the search without putting on too much server strain so that's really a first priority for us.
