What ranger secondary to be?

I am very unsure of what secondary profession to choose for my ranger. I will mainly be looking for the profession combo that will offer the most enjoyable overall PvE experience. I have tinkered with all other professions except for elementalist and am thinking about trying that out for my secondary. R/E? Or something else?

While in pre-searing you can try out all the secondaries. Choose the one you think you will have the most fun with. Much later in the game you can change your secondary if you wish to.

Well the thing I'm worried about is, at first I may like the skills that I try out in the presearing, but throughout the game, the skills I get may not be that useful. So I'm thinking in the long run which one you all would recommend.

Well in PvE your secondary for ranger doesn't matter too much at all I don't think, unless you've already got something random in mind. I usually have 1 to 0 skills from my secondary on my skillbar when I ranger in PvE. Anything specific PvE build for a ranger is pretty easy to pull off if you eventually unlock the other secondaries. You'll usually just have to buy like one skill at ember light camp or something, but that's til later. Basically if you can't decide, flip a coin, it's not gonna affect your gameplay that much. Now if you've got some other characters, or are planning on making other characters, try and choose your ranger secondary depending on whatever your other characters aren't gonna be. That way you can unlock as many skills as you can through PvE quests. So like if you wanted to make a monk or an ele later on, don't choose secondary monk or ele.

In that case I think I'm leaning towards ele because it's the one profession I haven't tried out yet as either a main or secondary (Also that Fiery Bow String/Conjure Flame combo looks nice :P). Unless someone has a really good reason to go with a secondary profession other than elementalist, I think that's what I'm going to pick

yeah... as a Ranger... you really won't be using your secondary that much imo... but i find out of all the builds i've used in the past that i go R/Me a lot

Well right now I have a N/Me and a Mo/Me so I'm a getting a little mesmer'd out. I guess if enough people recommend it, I'll go with it.

I like my Ranger Mesmer. Very flexible. I can go full out trapper or I can swap to a barrage interrupt or my personal favorite the epidemic ranger.

I recommend R/Mo, it makes getting around a lot easier early on. R/Me is nice for interrupts later on, and R/E combos well with the Conjure <element> spells (though not much else). You can make a surprisingly good tank with an R/W thanks to the many defensive stances rangers have. I've never had much luck with R/N.
