Movement

Ok guys, I'm sure this has been asked or commented on millions of times, but I just have to ask, and the search is disabled right now. What is the deal with movement in this game?? Will there ever be a jumping capability? It's very frustrating to not have the ability, I was just wondering if there ever will be the option. Also, will there ever be mounts (is it in the realm of possibility or in development)? Thanks.

What is the point of jumping? The map is going to limit where you can and cannot go and jumping, swimming, climbing, or flying is not going to change that.

Sure you can jump! (/jump) And if you're willing to use your imagination, you can pretend that each time you travel instantly between outposts you're using a mount. It's great for everyone!
Like DeanBB said, there's no point. If you can't reach somewhere without jumping, it means that you're not supposed to reach there. And mounts are especially pointless, as you can just travel instantly between towns anyway.

They've said pretty specifically no mounts.
And the physics engine isn't designed to support jumping, really.

Get Oblivion... Now ![Stick Out Tongue](../Img/tongue.gif)
Just playing.
It seems as though A-net will stick to the traditional movement right now. I mean, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' eh?
Adding jump and fly and other types of movements would surely if not really, change gameplay, therefore ruling the perfect Guild Wars Formula false...

There is no jumping right now...and probably never will be. As for mounts...even if their are, they will be pointless.

The physics engine in GW is pretty much nonexistant. Look at the way your character runs into walls - I often find myself dying in CA because I was running toward a staircase/ramp and suddenly I run into the invisible edge of a wall and the warrior that was beating on me catches up. =/

Umm, you can travel between towns/outposts/missions instantly. In the other areas, there are skills like illusion of haste, windbourne speed, storm chaser, sprint, etc.
Mounts would negate the speed boosting skills pretty much... This isin't WoW.
Jumping, dbout it. Currently there's no "need" to be able to jump at all. Again, this isin't WoW, and hopefuly never will be.

GW combat is based on maths, not jumping around and over melee swipes.
