Class idea: Engineer
TwilightOblivion
this is my idea. The engineer would be a class that would create things that could help the party. He would be able to create primitive machines to attack the enemies/aid the party, and his weapon would be a wrench. here would be the attributes of the engineer.
Primary- Ingenuity
Each point in this cuts recovery time of skills by 5%
Mechanations
increases time before mechanations break down. increases effects of mechanation skills
Chemistry
No inherent effect. Increases effect of chemistry skills
Wrench Mastery
increases damage done by wrenches
i havent really thought much about it yet, but i will tommorow at school and i will have much more for you then

please don't think much more about it ok, you just might kill some brain cells, or what were left after you thought about this profession...

I think it is somewhat an original idea...
Other than machines, I would like the ingenier to make things like the following:
make a tower. Target ally is protected by a wall for x...y seconds; whilst walled ally can not move but will suffer not physical damage. The tower will last until it is destroyed or demolished.
skill kind: building
make a wall. A wall of x...y width is made which physicaly blocks. The wall does not fall after a time, it may be destroyed or demolished.
skill kind: building
make a bridge. A bridge of x...y length is made which allows x...y creatures to move over it before getting ruined; else it stays unless it is destroyed or demolished.
skill kind: building
dynamite. If used clicking on the place of a building the building is demolished. It causes an x...y damage to all nearby creatures.
Hope this is pertinent.

muelon
hmm,
you could name him "Mr Good Wrench"
you could name him "Mr Good Wrench"
The Real Roy Keane
Sorry, but it just doesn't sound like it'd 'fit in' as such.
actionjack
Put more thoughts into it. skills and "nitch" are needed.
I do think Engineer is a good profession... but my old one didn't go too well...

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....engineer sound like a little too much..because it does not fit into the era..=P
Nightwish
There are engineers in GW Like actionjack, I think this class idea has alot of potential.
Wrench as the main weapon maybe abit redundant now as both warriors and assassins are melee ranged. Why not use a mid ranged weapon, which has yet to be occupied?
A whip can be considered as midrange imo, but it would not fit engineers so I guess we need to come up with another weapon.

A blunderbuss or crossbow would be a much more fitting weapon than a wrench imho.
Some sort of skill under the Chemistry attribute called Acid Bomb or Unstable Concoction would be cool. There could also be a greek fire type skill like burning oil or napalm.
EDIT: The only problem with mechanations, if they are stationary, is that then they would be like a ritualists spirits.

TwilightOblivion
well, most of the mechanations wouldnt be stationary, like small steam powered robots, and yeah, the wrench was something derived from dark cloud 2.
Its not like the machines would be anything high tech, just simple machines powered by gears and such
and as for the mid-range attack suggestion, i already have another class idea that is using it that IMO is much better than this one anyway; The Gambler

Perhaps you could have the engineer throw bombs or something? I like the idea, and with a bit of work, you might have something actually feasible. The machine making kind of reminds me of the Goblin Tinker in Warcraft III. Just how many skills you could have that involve machines, though, may be an issue...
Wretchman Drake
This isn't Battlefield 2/Age of Empires, whoever said the walls/towers thing, lol. No way would GW interface handle it.

This was my concept for an engineer back in....october? Mine is armed with a crossbow, as was actionjack's engineer idea.
My idea involved making small machines that could be pulled around (like when you carry stuff).
I dont think making a siege machine is as absurd as "Summoning a spirit from the other side to cause damage to your enemies, but only when they get knocked down"
