Is lending gold against the rules?

Lets say I someone needs some GW gold and I have it. Is it against the rules if I were to lend the gold and charge interest?

Let say I lend 100p and I charge 10p interest. Which has to be paid in a certian amount of time. Is this against the rules?

I haven't figured out how to ensure I will get paid back yet but its an idea I am working on.

If I can get payments guaranteed somehow | cha-ching!

Yes, its completely illegal. If you do this you could be sentenced to prison or tried for treason by the government of Samoa.

to lend money ingame to another in game person is not against the rules. To buy ingame money with real life money is against the rules.

and hell yes. if youre loaning money to someone with the intent for them to pay it back, you better collect interest

Nah totally legal but not likely to work. I mean you can't exactly knee cap them in character to get your cash. It would be impossible to enforce payment. " Sure I'll pay you back 110K in a week." Do you think you're gonna see my ass around next week? Hell no. I got your money I'm out. What's the worst you can do report me to ANet? I don't think they could really do anything since this is one of those caveats you just have to deal with in game.

I asking Tony Saprano for his support. If Tony says you pay up you better pay. Maybe I can get Savio to be one of my "Wise guys"

This is too risky imo. It's allowed but you are just asking to be scammed by someone who wants an easy 100k. If you do it on the forum and they scam you, it still wont work- alot of people are willing to get banned from GwG for 100k.

I agree. Since there is no way to enforce payment, it won't work!

Sure it can work, just make it a secured loan rather than an unsecured loan (i.e. make them give you an item of sufficient value that you know they'll want it back before you give them the money). Just make sure they put up collateral as insurance of repayment, otherwise don't give them the loan.

too hard to work out the details, too easy for someone to walk away with your money, in short it's not a good idea.

The only way I can see it working is that they actually give you collateral, such as ecto. Problem is if they have all that ecto sitting around for collateral then why do they need to borrow money?

I find it true that the only people that you would trust enough to lend money too, are your friends and you wouldn't want to charge them interest anyway. Are you really going to do this:

Best buddy: "Hey man, can I borrow like, 30k? I'm a little short for my new armor"
Me: "Sure, but that'll be 7.9% interest though ..."
Best buddy: "????"

or this?

Complete Stranger: "I'd like 100k on a loan, i'll pay 15% interest even!"
You: "Sure, here you go"

(2 days later)

You: "So you doing well? Need another loan at all?"
Complete Stranger: "Uh, nah .. i'm good"
You: "Great ... let me know when you can pay me back"

-Player Complete Stranger is ignoring you-

EDIT: Clarifying, underlining

Privately operating loansharks are never legal online or in the real work....unless of course you register with IRS as a company and pay taxes but in a online game context, you are asking to be ripped off or banned if SS are submitted.
