What Do I Do?

I joined a Guild a few days ago. Played with the members, talked, had fun actually. Today I go on and I have no cape. I ask the leader what happened. He said he sold the guild! We were savubg up for a guild hall. So I ask if I'll get my 2k back (keep in mind I'm new to the game so 2k was hard for me to get). He doesn't answer, and after five minutes he tells me someone ran off with it. At that point I'm getting second thoughts about this guy. So, I ask him who it was. He says, "Well, heck, I dunno". I know he's lying then. I tell him and then ask one more time who it was. After another 5 minute wait he says his friend used his account and took it. Now I'm out 2k (plus other members out of there money). What can I do? This really sucks

I would report the guy for scamming or something...that would really piss me off...

You, my friend, just got scammed. Not much you can do other than be more careful in the future. Don't ever give your guild leaders gold. I'm a guild leader for my guild, and I never ask for money from my members. It is the leaders sole responsiblity to provide the hall and capes himself\herself.

thats harsh man...I'd be angry. But I will suggest that in the future, run around with people for a while and get to know them before you join a guild. It's about the only real way to find a good guild that suits your interests. I hope you get your gold back bud

Report him if you feel it's neccessary. Otherwise, take the 2K loss as it's really not that much. It might seem like alot if you are new to the game, but you will have it back in no time if you just keep chugging along.

Well, I have a feeling reporting him won't do any good anyways. I talked to him for a bit before he went offline (or blocked me). This kinda thing really pisses me off. You can tell as the conversation goes...

Well, I have 10 screenshots of the conversation. I couldn't get all of it. I did get one of the times when he dared me to report it. You think this might be enough?

His name is (dont use names). I know hes gonna do it again. He goes looking for people new to the game so it's easy to scam them.

Also, where would I report him at? I don't mind if I don't get the 2k back... at this point it's a kind of major loss for me, but I don't want him to do it to other new people.

Well actually you're not supposed to post names in this forum if you don't have their consent, so you need to edit and take that out. But seeing as how I've already seen the name you posted, I'll be sure to give em a call and mess with em But yeah. Now I know why there are so many ppl recruiting early in game. That's just messed up...What's more messed up is ppl that actually buy the guild...why would you buy a guild...

Oh, and since you can have only like 10 ppl on your ignore list, and I'm sure this noobs list is full already. I'm sure anyone else who's seen the name posted will be able to pwnwhisper spam the guy with complete freedom

Well it can't hurt if you report him...only 5min of some Anet worker's time(dont flame me for this )...no biggie...people like this need to be stopped...its not right

Yeah, that's pretty lame. Make sure you know them a little better or know the guild is gonna be around.

I have to disagree with this statement. Our guild had the active members each contribute to buy the guild hall, it made it more a group activity than just going out and buying it. They also got to vote on which one to use for the guild, same as the cape. I think those kinds of activities help build community in a guild.

We also documented on our forum the contributions that people made towards the hall so nobody could say they were scammed or whatever.

Question: why did you pay 2k to the guild leader anyway? entrence fee? If it is an entrence fee thats retarded. Why join a guild in the first place that REQUIRES you to pay to get in?

It was for the Guild Hall. It was a group effort. I don't remember how far we got, but he was getting it pretty fast. Him and one of his officers were holding a contest. Whoever got up the most money for the guild hall got a Fiery Dragon Sword (or soemthing like that, I know its a popular one).
