I am N/Me with SS using a general SS build and i was wondering if parasite bond is useful for PvE.

Parasite bond

For 20 seconds, target foe suffers Health degeneration of 1. The caster is healed for 30...102 when Parasitic Bond ends.

i can see the benefit of this skill with only 5 energy cost and 1 second cast 2 second recharge. It seems very spammable

have you guys found this skill to be of any use i am just curious because in PvE it has saved my butt about 5 times providing an instant heal when i was about to die.

just curious on any thoughts ie. things it can stack with etc.

thx for replying

I find it sorta "meh" in PvE. Works excellent as a single target cover hex (and as a flag that hex removall is occuring, as you get that heal), but thats about the end of it. The amount of healing it provides is great, but too random to be really useful.

just imo, of course.

Parasitic Bond is mainly a cover hex in PvE.

In PvP it has so many uses I don't know where to start...

You can use it as cover hex, of course...

You can also use it a fake degen hex- PB appears as a degen hex on the party bar, so monks assume it's a dangerous hex like Conjure/Faintheartedness or whatsoever and attempt to remove it. This heals you and exhausts their hex removal options.

You can also use PB to bypass Hex Breaker, so that you can unload ur hexes and then finish off with PB again. Also the -1 degen does add up, so if you wish to max degen, it's another reason to combine it with degen hexes.

You can also use it as a form of delayed self-heal, that is, what you describe above- just hex as many things as possible with it and you can generate a steady health flow after 20secs if you time it right.

And lastly you can use it with skills triggered by hexes, like Soul Barbs, altho generally Wastrel's is better for the purpose.

Can't think of anything else atm.

It's devious for setting-up FoC spikes, too. Team of 6 Necros, all carrying Awaken the Blood, Parasitic Bond, and Feast of Corruption. They use AtB, then each choose one target to cast Para Bond on...and then synch-up using FoC on their own respective targets. It's absolutely breathtaking and fun as hell to play. The health return from FoC, combined with Para Bond, is nuts (something like 220-230), plus the damage from multiple FoCs going off on bunched-up targets...

Oh yes. Para Bond has its uses in PvP.

In PvP I got in a match once where I kept spamming this on a Boon Prot Monk and he kept using Contemplation of Purity so he always removed my Parasitic Bond and it helped keep me alive while this warrior was killing me. The match went on for like 5 minutes, lol my monk couldn't even keep me healed their monk did.

I would say that it's moderately useful for PvE. If you're running with henchmen then you can learn to time your Parasitic Bond to coincide with the point just before an enemy's death. It's a powerful heal that you can get for 5e. Just wait until something is about to die and hit it with Parasitic Bond. Bam! Healed for a good amount (depending on points in curses).

I find that in PvE there are few monsters that will remove hexes, yet it is a good covering hex. I believe that Avicara Ardents will remove just about any hex you cast so if you're using something fairly expensive like Spiteful Spirit then Parasitic Bond is a good cover hex.

I'm not sure about other situations in PvE. There are some farming builds for necros that people use for certain areas where it might come in handy. Search around this board and see.

I only used it in PvE with my W/N.

I had this nice axe, but it was +14% vs hexed foes, so I needed a hex.
I'd start with PB, then some stuff for the kill and when it died, I gained a bunch of health, getting me ready for the next one.
Not a great tactic, but it worked.

I don't know about PvE, but it's invaluable in PvP. I make sure every time I cast SS, I cover it with PB so it's a constant life saver. If im facing a warrior, ill hit them with SS, then Enfeeble, then PB. It works out very well.
