55 N/Mo SS Build
Cygnus_Zero
Wow, I realized today that I really stink at this. I went and got everything set up. Read a few posts how to do it, and I just don't get it. Kinda feel like an idiot for investing so much money into everything I needed for this.
First tried to fight 3 jade scarabs. Dead in about 4 seconds. Degen just destroyed me. Tried to fight a rockshot devourer. I dont even think I did any damage to him. Fought a windborn waker outside LA and got half his health down, then he got angry and turned up the heat. Finished me off pretty quickly.
I had more fun getting everything I needed than actually doing it. Well I figured i'd vent a little.

Patience. Try against simple enemies like Mergoyles, at first, for practice.
Cygnus_Zero
Oh im not quitting it or anything. Where are they again? Havent seen any in ages.

Outside of Beetletun.
Kidney Licker
Try the Sand drakes outside Elona Reach for practice as well.
I don't think that 55 works against jades as they use life stealing, vamp touch(?), which bypass prot spirit. Can't remember though.

Jade Scarabs aren't a big deal. They don't use any vampiric skills but they use chiblains to strip enchants. Just use a cover enchant to avoid problems. Guardian, Vigorous Spirit. Anything works. If you're feeling really ballsy just use Healing Breeze to cover Protective Spirit and watch your health degen. Poison is a bit tricky to deal with, but it's possible.

Well Cygnus_Zero, the monsters that you have attempted to kill to prove your own 'l33tness' to yourself are, well, quite tough to kill with a 55 build.
Scarabs - they touch you in a bad way.
Rockshots - Interupt? Just use a long casting skill that you don't need. *Shadow of Fear works well*
Cover enchantments are key if you ever farm in the FoW, which are definately a tougher concept to master.
Being a great 55 necromancer is not an easy thing. Proper practice will take you a long way. I advise you to try out:
a) Minotaurs at Elona's Reach
b) Hydras outside of Augury
c) Sand Drakes (outside elona?) <-- slow and painful at times.
d) grawl =P who cares where, they're fun to k33l.
edit : a bit, late. I know. Cygnus_Zero - What I meant was that those monsters are tough to kill, and supposedly, mostly only the better players can take them on. I realize that I was a bit unclear earlier but uh um..look over there!

What are you talking about opeth? I don't consider anything elite because it's just a stupid videogame that I like to play when im bored. I dont take it too seriously and im sick of bringing lame henches out and relying on them. I play with real people for missions and whatever, but id like to farm on my own.
Cygnus_Zero
I wasn't expecting it to be easy and apparently I chose the wrong enemies to practice against.
Is there any other good full health Necro solo builds? I saw one a while ago for an N/Me and that consisted of Physical Resistance, SS, Arcane Echo and some other skills.

Murder In China
Then go watch videos on how people play 55 necros.
Cygnus_Zero
I have. Their usually so compressed you cant see they skills at the bottom or what order they are activating. Thats my problem. I have no clue how I shoul be stacking skills. Just taking a guess really.

Special mm's build can farm somewhat all mission and places (like the ettins) with enough corpses. (but you may need a monk to help you)

Assuming you're using the following:
Mending
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond
Protective Spirit(PS)
Healing Breeze(HB)
You basically cast Mending, Balthazar's Spirit and Essence Bond the moment you zone in (order of cast is irrelevant really). Get/Wait for your energy to be back to max. Go near some monsters so they're just outside your aggro bubble. Cast PS and then aggro them, e.g. hit one with a wand shot, when they're coming to you, cast Healing Breeze. While they're attacking you, just make sure PS and HB are running. You don't have to wait until they blink before you recast PS or HB, you can cast them whenever you have the energy and before they run out. HB last 10 seconds, and PS duration depends on your Protection Prayer level (I usually have it set to about 15-16 seconds). PS is more important to keep on, as Mending will cover some damage. When PS and HB are up, then you can cast some attack spells before doing PS and HB again. Keep an eye on your energy and make sure you have enough for PS and HB. e.g. if you have 10 left don't waste it on an attack spell, as you may find that you have nothing when you're in dire need for PS.
Don't take on to many monsters at once, 3-6 if you're new and need the practice. Minotaurs or other melee monsters are good to practice on. Don't take on any monsters that degen, life steal, poison or bleed you. Some of these can be taken on later once you're good. It does take some time to get use to.
Hope that helps.

Sure there are.
N/Mo and N/R Minion Masters can run solo, and once they get rolling, they are *extremely* powerful. Way stronger than a 55 build in certain situations, but way weaker in others. Can't solo UW/FoW or End game places with MM.
N/* Blood Spike + LT + LS (dunno the name of this build)
Basically use LT+LS to get +10 heath regen, and use VG/Shadow Strike/DP.... to kill. Stronger than it looks.

Fighting those Mergoyles worked out pretty well. I had no problems staying alive, but since they kept my energy sitting right around 0, I really had no way to kill them.
Murder In China
Then stop attacking them with your weapon.
Cygnus_Zero
I just successfully killed 3 sand drakes. Do mending, balthazars spirit and essence bond ever run out?
Murder In China
Read the descriptions.
Cygnus_Zero
Yeah, they say "while you maintain". So when does it get removed?

did you even read my post before you responded? I said I had no energy and couldnt put SS on them. You respond with stop attacking with my weapon? Doesnt make any sense.
Murder In China
Where are you farming these Mergargoyles? Outside Gates of Kryta or Beethlum?
Cygnus_Zero
Beetletun
It doesn't matter though. I only tried them because someone mentioned them and they were constantly draining my energy.
Anyone know a low energy cost attack spell to compliment SS?

The mergoyles hex you with Spirit Shackles which take 5 energy from you every time you wand them.
Cygnus_Zero
Ok so how do I counter that? Sorry if these are noob questions. This is my 1st time soloing. I'm getting a little better with it though. Just took out 5 hydras at once. Probably not a bid deal to any vets but it was kind of cool.
Murder In China
Simple, don't attack with that Hex on. Also, don't cast Protective Spirit and Healing breeze when they finish recharging, it wastes energy and time. Only cast them when they are 2 or 3 seconds away from flashing or when they flash.
Descerate Enchantments is a great low energy damage dealer.

Thanks Murder. Also, for healing I am using healing breeze and vigorous spirit. I dropped Orison because I thought vigorous will just keep helping me over 30 seconds and would be more useful than Orison. What do you think about that change? And it only costs 5 energy just like Orison,
Senator Tom
k now try trolls in the cave to the west of droks.
you'll need guardian.
you'll need guardian.
Cygnus_Zero
Ill do that Tom. This board is so much more helpful than gamefaqs.

Display current skill set and attributes?

Looks like to get to that cave, I need to go through some Avicara. Will that work? I see Mountain Trolls but they arent in a cave. Are they the ones you are talking abou tom?

Anyone know a low energy cost attack spell to compliment SS? Another place to practice against degen is outside Augury Rock, in Skyward Reach, where the Hydra are. If you turn to the left after you walk down the little path into the opening, there are Storm Kin out there that spam Conjure Phantasm. I usually kill them for the fun when I farm hydra, even though the drops they give aren't really all that great.
Also, the key to beating Mergoyles in Beetletun is Blessed Sig. (or Bonetti's Defense for m/w.) They give crap drops though, so usually just avoid them.

You can just run past them, they'll lose arggo when you reach the entrance of the cave.
Cygnus_Zero
So cast Guardian, then SS?
Murder In China
Yes.
(5chars) Cygnus_Zero
I just did it and it worked well. At 1st I was running into the cave and aggroing everything. I almost had all of them killed then I died. So I then just pulled and broke them up into 2 groups and took them out.
Cygnus_Zero
As far as the healing spells, is Healing Breeze generally enough to keep you alive? Like I said I threw in Vigorous because its cheap and give 8 health every time you do anything for 30 seconds.
Are Orison or Insidious Parasite more useful to a solo necro or do I not even need another healer outside of Breeze as long as I constantly keep that running? Murder In China
Insideous Parasite > Orison of Healing.
Insideous Parasite is like a tiny Orison everytime that hexed foe attacks. Vamp Nosferatu
Try to farm outside elona reach for hydra's with a 55 hp necro.
First cast mending, essence bond and watchful spirit. Then go to some hydra's and cast protective spirit, hydra's always begin to attack with meteor and with meteor you fall down and when you're casting the spell fails so watch out for that. Keep Protective spirit always on you! Then you can cast Spiteful Spirit on a hydra so they lose health and slowly die. Try to fight groups of 3, they are easiest to win because they don't do more damage then your enchantments regenerate. If you got 4 or more hydra's on you, you can cast healing breeze to keep your health high, don't use healing breeze on groups of 3 or less, it's a waste of energy. In your build you must have protection prayers on 12 (highest) healing prayers on 8 so you have mending on +3. and the rest on curses for SS. Just try to have always protective spirit on you and keep an eye on your mana/health bar. And try to cast Spiteful Spirit when you can. And watch out for Meteor. |
