My dilemma with Factions

Canada...... Eh!

My dilemma with Factions is a simple one. I just bought another copy of Prophecies. Brand new, no slots used yet. Would it be more benificial to put my copy of Factions on the new account or the old account? Anyone have any suggestions? On one hand I could enjoy the 'expanded' game from the beginning with 6 brand new characters. On the other hand, I could enjoy the 'expanded' game with either my Necro, Ranger, Warrior, or Monk (all of which are currently at lvl 20 with only the Necro left to ascend) and 2 extra slots. What to do, what to do? Suggestions? And before someone says it, No, I can't just get 2 copies of Factions, The wife would kill me.

If you make a seperate account for factions, you get 4 slots, not 6. Still, I'd add it to your normal account, so you have more content and the ability to hop back and forth between continents. You'd also have more skills available to your characters.

obvious choice if you ever consider to play pvp : add it to your oldest (most, if not completely unlocked) account, so you have one account that can be UAX (unlocked everything) with a minimum time-investment, so you're back to being 100% capable of playing builds.

if you don't play pvp, i guess playing the same campaign 4 times again would be kinda boring, and i'd add it to the new account, and enjoy a blend of factions and prophecies 6 times :P

Buy a second copy of Factions and add one to each of your Prophesy accounts.

I'm actually in the same situation. Got tired of too few character slots as I want to play with all of them, and more storage , and I'll be purchasing two factions accounts. May as well have both accessable to the new content! Haven't decided what I'll do for Chapter 3 yet, though, could start getting expensive... 0_o

How much do you love yoru old chars? I'm personally getting 2 copies of Factions, however if I was only getting the one I'd put it on my oldest one. I'd rather have my ranger to play through factions + the 2 extra chars, than any of my other chars. My ranger was my first through the game and she'll be my first through factions

I've preordered two copies of Factions so I'll be linking both my accounts. If I only linked one, I *know* that I'd soon want to access the new material with the characters on my other account. So I gave in to the inevitable.

I'd say add the factions to your old account, but that may depend upon a few things. Here's some thoughts on it:

1. If you have tried all the core characters and would still like to have a Mesmer or Elementalist, you would need to add Factions to your new copy to get enough slots to do those plus the Assassin & Ritualist. Keep in mind though, that there is no direct way to pass gold & items between the two accounts. The people I know who have 2 accounts, have to run each account on a separate computer (or laptop) in order to trade items between characters, or they have to use a 3rd party as a go-between. Also, your established account characters won't be able to go to Cantha.

2. If, on the other hand, you have tried the Mesmer & Ele and don't want to do them, then adding the Factions to your old account will give you enough added slots (2) to try the new Factions classes. You will have storage accessible by all characters and they'll all be able to travel anywhere.

3. You could always use the new Prophecies account as PvP only. Or you could use it as more storage - although you would have the above mentioned limitations.

Myself, I have 4 core characters and don't plan to try the other 2. I've also tried the new classes and don't intend to do a Ritualist. So, when I start Factions I can start my new Assassin and still have a slot free to start (and stop/delete) a new version of any character type, and then decide to keep it and delete the old, or whatever.

In regards to the two computers this is my current setup. What I do however is use a program called RealVNC which allows me to remotely connect to the other computer. Then I don't even need to be in the same room in order to access the other account at the same time. There are methods for getting two instances of GW to run at the same time on the same machine and you can find how in the technicians corner.

Wow, thanx for all the input people! Now that I hear other people say it (instead of just the voices in my head ) I think that I will add it to my existing account. I really want another copy of GW but I'm starting to think that I would rather have it on another computer. I kinda need a new one anyways, plus there's an added bonus. I can have my lvl 20 guys run my new account guys thru all the boring stuff, thru the crap missions *cough* thirsty *cough*, and even power lvl them if I feel the need. Although I've never had a problem getting enough xp for my characters to hit lvl 20. But think of how much easier it would be to cap elites......
