Someone using factions armor--today, apr. 5
Wrath Of Dragons
I was in random arenas today, and saw this guy wearing factions armor. i asked someone on my team, and they said that pvp chars created back in the preview were still playable.
1) is this a minor bug, or major exploit of some sort? or some advertizing gimmick....doubt it lol
2) do these charachters have access to factions skills too?

1. My guess, exploit/bug.
2. No.
2. No.

It's just like before;
Assassin and Ritualist primary PvP chars (and all PvE chars) were locked out, while core profession chars are still usable. Once they delete them, they can't remake them with that armor though.

It could be considered an exploit, but anet really doesn't care about it. If they're in factions armor it just means they never deleted the PvP char they made during the FPE.

They know about it now, they are probably working on how to correct it.

I just deleted my Factions armored warrior because the skills he got from the assassin didn't work. But it was pretty cool to beat the snot out of some mesmer in Factions gear...

The other day I saw this warrior shouting in Hero Ascent: "100 defense tank lfg! Don't believe me about 100 def open trade!"
The people who kept characters with the Factions armor seem to think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It sortof surprised me but I haven't seen anyone in observer mode using Factions armor, I would have thought the higher ranked guilds would be all over the new armors with the stats but it isn't so. I suppose most people don't have the room to keep the character exactly the same from the event.

My Necro still has Factions armor, not a very big deal, I just like it cause it looks different, doesnt make me any stronger.

It's not an exploit but a minor mistake on ANet's part
I know a couple of people who were able to do that.
It's simple:
Before FPE ends,
Create a PvP Character whose Primary and Secondary are available to Prophecies.
All your unlocked skills and items will be available to that "Canthan" PvP Character.
Choose the PvP Armour sets.
Then stay outside of Canthan Continent.
Voila ^_^
They do not have the Canthan skills anymore because they locked it out temporarily until 27th/28th and if you put in a Factions CD-Key.
But they can use those characters normally coz it's outside of the Canthan servers (so to speak) and has skills of Prophecies (unlocked skills) but with a Canthan Armour set.
^_^
I can login a Necro with a Canthan PvP Armour set

Yup, but with a Faction secondary or primary, it has become useless after the lock-out of the skills. ^^ But yes it is possible.
I guess by the looks of it, that's one aspect that ANet did not foresee
For sure, come Chapter 3 Preview Event, we won't be able to do it anymore
Also, more or less, they'll let those characters intact, we're 2-3 weeks away from release anyway
weeee!!!!

I almost wish I had kept my monk, in Factions armor. But at the end of the day I prefer using a PvE monk and the advantages that offers.
As to whether it is OMGBROKEN that some people are still using Factions characters in PvP... I don't think so, plus Factions is so close now that it isn't going to make any difference.

Sorry, but are people saying the plus HP armor has no effect on gameplay?
If not, then what's the point of having new Factions armor at all? Anet might has well saved the trouble and not made any new armor.

it has no effect "currently" because all the attributes and features of Factions were disabled until you 27th/28th and you put a Factions Retail CD-Key. So yes there's a purpose behind those new armours.
The point why they are keeping those armours even after the FPE was locked-out is for "vanity's" sake. There are players who enjoy a game simply because of the "designs" of the armours they can wear.

If was just random people in RA, HoH, and maybe some in GvG, perhaps I could believe that. But when the whole teams, and more then one in the top 16 guilds I surely don’t think it’s just for the “vanity's sake”, same goes for the armor stats.

The armour makes a difference to monks, i think +10 while enchanted is easily the best armour for the average HA monk as channeling/prot is on a monk pretty much 100%.
