I thought it was pretty neat to see a connection between GW and other beloved games and animes of mine

Interesting. IMO, his voice changes dramatically from Gates of Kryta to Bloodstone. In Bloodstone, he sounds a lot like Rexxar from Warcraft III...though Rexxar isn't on that list.

Nothing more intersting than listening to him speak in one of the cut scenes, and my b/f randomly adding lines from the outtakes of Rurouni Kenshin where the guy voice-acts as Makoto Shishio... makes the cut scenes sooo much more entertaining.

Is it bad form to link your own thread?

Anyway, I brought this very thing up about a year ago.

I also read the other day that he is doing the voice of Vincent on the upcoming english release of Final Fantasy: Advent Children.

Yes, you missed my first post here where I pointed out that watching cut scenes with Makoto Shishio's outtake lines added was entertaining. Sekkira, who of course, knows this and is responsible for it happening in the first place, just happened to quote a line from it, almost making me spill tea over my keyboard.

this is amazing, i love his rolls in any of the shows/games i reconize, but his acting in Guild Wars was absolutly horrendous, mostly because of that dramatic (and fake) change of tone at bloodstone fen.

But then again, there is no good voice acting in Guild Wars. I suppose even a good voice actor will fall in the midst of a terrible VO

(nothing against the game, some of my favorite games have absolutly sickening VOs)

"OMG, Steven Blum, not you AGAIN!!!"

seriously i loved some of teh animes he voiced, but i think he was only really good as Spike Spiegel.

He NEVER changes his voice. Its always him. Maybe a little hoarser or what not.

He also voiced one of the dwarves in the conversation between Brechnar and two other dwarves.

"I could have heard i heard shouts of men" or something. Thats Steven Blum too.

Le Sigh...If its not Steven Blum, Its Scott Mcneil. If its not Scott Mcneil, its Richard Cox, if its not Richard Cox, Its Cam Clarke.

~_~ There needs to be more variety in voice actors, seriously.

I always love how when you look up an actor or actress, it's almost crazy how many roles they've actually had. Like Steve was a voice actor for a ridiculous amount of animes and video games.

...but yeah Wikipedia owns.

it doesn't help the voice acting that nobody's mouth moves during the cut scenes -- makes the scenes look really weird to me.

too bad it's probably too expensive for Anet to add mouth movements.

We should make it a guru project to make a FULL cast listing on guild wars.

The voices sound familiar but i need more cross references from other anime/cartoon fans.

edit:

entry for guild wars.

A little while back, this only had the voice of Rurik credited. I actually wiki-ed steven blum in there, i dunno if that change was because of me >.>;

I wonder how that happens. Does soem casting director call you up and ask if you want to be the sound actor for zombies in a computer game?

Man, the more I find out about Steve the more fun I think it would be to be a voice actor. Steve Blum is like the L.T. of voice actors.

They do casting calls and have auditions, just like any other acting job, except no one knows you by face

I always laugh at how the voice of that guy doesn't match up with the toon. Sounds like a frail old white guy and you'd expect a deep booming voice like James Earl Jones or Chef from South Park.

LOL, so true! I always thought that the guy who was supposed to be the supreme badass of the White Mantle should sound a bit more menacing. But I must admit, I'm ashamed of myself that I didn't recognize Steven Blum's voice in Hablion's scenes. Ever since I've seen all the episodes of Cowboy Bebop like 5x each, and seen the movie like 10x, I can almost always pick him out right away. His voice, to me, seems most fitting to Spike Spiegel, so whenever I hear him voicing another character it irks me. Bring back Spike!!

I think Keith David has a cool voice they could incorporate as the male warrior voice, or a bad guy for future GW chapters... and maybe Paul Dobson as the male necromancer? It sure would be cool if each profession had a different voice instead of just having a male and female voice for players in the cutscenes.
Can you guys think of any voice actors and what kind of character (necro, warrior, mesmer, ele, ranger, villains, kings, demons, etc) you would like to see them cast as? This is kind of fun.

It's surprising just how small the world is when it comes to voice actors.

Start with Ghost in the Shell then move to Chobits. Hideki in Chobits is done by Togusa in Ghost in the Shell. Then move to Last Exile. Al in Last Exile is done by Kotoko in Chobits.

Oi!

..and yeah..

"Spike" is all over the place, I'd love to meet him one day and say "dude, it's like we live together!"

If you watch as much anime as some of us do, you get depressed at just how small the voice acting community is.

It even seems kinda small if you always watch the original Japanese, though the situation is a bit better because at least a lot of the Japanese actors don't suck, and are, in fact, quite awesome. I like Steve Blum though.

Speaking of which, he doesn't just play that Hablion guy does he? I'm pretty sure my elementalist is voiced by Steve Blum.

If your character is a male, he is voiced by Steven Blum in all the cinemas.

Like i mentioned earlier, he also voices a dwarf in Grooble's Gulch.
