Everyone I speak to at the moment seems to bewanting to side with the luxons in the upcoming factions titles so Im just after a quick head count to see how it really pans out. Surely if two thirds of the population are Luxon sympathisers its going to make life hard for the minority

They will ballance out, really. If EVERYONE goes to Luxon it just means that good players are going to have to pull AWFUL players through most of the pvp stuff, and nobody really likes to do that. So Kurzick and Luxon will ballance each other out. I rember the FPE even that all the elitists took Kurzick then the lv 4-6 players went there so many people went to Luxon. Even I went to Luxon mainly because the people in Kurzick were jerks and I wanted to try Luxon, they were alot nicer.

So I truly belive they'll just go up and down, down and up when it comes out to it. Hopefully there will be some level restrictions when it comes to 12 vs 12 or something like it, becauswe I really don't like to power level 4s and 5s when I just want to have fun PvPing with a good group.

Fact of the matter is. I find Kurzicks to be far too gothic for my tastes. It's like medievil meets victorian.

If the FPE is anything to go by, I find the Luxon areas and enemies more interesting visually, and the array of skills they use. When going through the Kurzick areas I seemed to be fighting Guardians, then more Guardians and finally some Guardians (ok the Mantis were cool). However the Kurzick areas were more challenging. I think casual players are gonna side with the Luxon and more serious players with the Kurzick.

...and thus you have 95% of the reason I want my guild to go Kurzick. Gothic outfits and architecture FTW!

Back on topic, I hope there are lots of people playing Luxons, as most of the people I know seem to be going Kurzick and it was starting to worry me (the underdog is always so much more appealing).

Out of interest, this might just be my obsession with fair play, but is everyone else concerned about the uinsportsmanlike bahavious some people are exhibiting just to get a win for their faction? I would rather lose a pvp than win because someone used underhanded tactics.

I bounced from Kurzicks to Luxons all weekend. And I certainly never saw and difference in numbers.

(And the Kurzick architecture is brilliant. But Jade has always been my favourite stone, so it's hard to resist a sea of the stuff.)

Well from what i saw in the FPE, 80% were luxon, but the win/loss in the 12v12 was pretty balanced, mainly because the majority of luxons were "noobs".
During the day the luxons did better, but it seemed that the more experienced pvp players had sided with kurzicks so during the evening when the better pvp players tend to play the kurzicks took more ground.
I prefer the luxon pirate image, but from what ive seen the scenery in the kurzicks part is awesome as opposed to the Jade Sea which gets boring fast.

I really don't see why people thinks the Kurzicks are gothic. Nothing could be further from the truth; they have a vibrant, artist culture. So they live in a pertrified forest, big deal. That doesn't make them gothic.

Personally I like Kurzicks better, just because there seemed to be fewer "spies" leaving 12 v 12 matches in the preview event on the Luxon side, i.e. fewer Kurzicks were going over to the Luxon side and leaving as soon as the game started. In one match, 4 people left as soon as the game started. The most I ever saw leaving from the Luxon teams was 2 people who left when they were about 150 points behind.

And I think my guild has decided to side with the Kurzicks as well.

Then you want the Luxons, my friend. Scratching a rough living on a sea turned to stone, this noble race of sea-farers has achieved survival under conditions that would drive most communities to extinction. Battling against all odds, and winning. The Luxon way. Come to the light.

Well, I meant more of the less popular, in my opinion, Kurzicks don't have enough supporters, thats why they are getting my vote, havent really read the lore about each at all

Theres no underdog side. Theres no "weaker" side. Theres no minority.

Until we see the border and see how it stacks after a week of pvp we dont really know which side has "more".

From what Ive seen, my network of friends anyway....Kurzick seems to be more prevalent. Within my guild, we are all Luxon.

Unless theres an official word from Anet as to how many players are allied to which side...we wont know ;P

There are no Luxoms...perhaps you are refering to Luxons.

But yes, I agree...Kurzicks are going to have 1/10 the people of Luxons because of their crappy enviroment.

I was just basing my opinion on what I had seen from my guildmates, and friends. As well as during the weekend Luxons seemed to be more full than Kurzicks. just personal experiences for my descision.

edit- does anyone have a link to the Factions Lore, it looks like all the gw site has is prophecies story

What? I said Luxon! Why, go look at the original <cough> un-edited post with the now correct spelling!

I disaree... I think it'll be at the greatest a 55-45 split, probably fluctuating between the two factions being dominant wrt numbers. Nature of the beast and all that.

I see now. Must have been something in my eye

I dont see a 55-45 split unless there is a bonus for the losing side (which isnt a bad idea...gets people to change back and forth)

Methinks I may have to change guilds? I dont think my guys are gonna be up for swappin sides! Perhaps I will go Ronin for a while? Do you have to be in a guild to take on the missions or will it be like random arenas? Does a swap of ally mean that all your previous or current work will be lost?

How would an imbalance affect the game anyway? The only way I can see is that one side might see more "no opposing team joined" in the 12 vs 12 battles.

Even if the population had a 75% Side A / 25% Side B, Side A wouldn't be able to leverage any advantage since all PvP fights have equal numbers. There's no zerging in GW

edit: I'm going Kurzick btw

Imagine a 75% imbalance though!! It wouldnt be no opposition some of the time it would be 75% of the time. Isnt that the point though with all the cool new things your supposed to do? Faction battles and taking over towns. Whats the point if nearly all the towns are one side? Of course there is the underdog point so people will swap sides to the losing side so they get to cream some more players.
Really I think this thread is done. By the looks of things its pretty ballanced and everyones gonna be swapping sides right left and centre anyway so It all looks rosey in the future

When recruiting, my guild officers call our guild a "mature" guild, and that was what drew me into joining. But low and behold, the reason many members want to join the Luxon side is because the name, "Luxon," is supposedly cooler than "Kurzick." I really dislike my guild right now.. Although I'm currently a Kurz supporter, I find the reasons absurd. Save me.

ive been guildless for a while now and decided after factions comes out to do a Kurzick guild..

Id played a bit over 40 hours in the weekend event ( lotta mt dew) solo on both sides..

generally the kurzick quests where harder and more rewarding than the luxon ones..

on the pvp side when I was on a kurzick team tactics where actually discussed in chat. apart from the standard ( 3 that way, 3 that way, rest in the center)

luxon teams generally just charged forward.. no discussion no support from other teammates. ( I played a trapper on both sides and was trapping the crap out of the hold points and teleport pads)

my thought was make a guild ... goto the first kurzick town and recruit.. figuring there will be a few people starting when factions comes out..

nothing overtly serious about the guild ( basically grouping people for the same quests and pvp arenas)

Ideally Ill put one account one the kurzick Freehold guild and another on the Luxon surf N Turf guild..

thats if factions is worth multiple copies.. ...

"Off to the left - "aargh, pirates are cool, aargh" "i am awesome coz i'm a pirate" "Some random maddox or realultimatepower one-liner" .... "

My guild doesn't seem to care much. The one of my officers who responded when I asked said "I guess we could go with the Kurzick people. Cause, they're kinda like goth ninjas, and ninjas are cool."

At the moment about 70% of the GW community wants to play Kurzick.

I personally detest the Kurzicks and I annihilated that little camp of theirs with a big smile on my face in that Kryta quest. They're quite scary "death-metal Goths" (no offense meant here, just a generalisation), and I don't really tick that way. They all look like they should've been buried a week ago - it's all just a bit too extreme and their theme is rather emo and depressing.

I like the more laid-back attitude of the Luxons, the apparent freedom, the, err, more fashionable "jock" outfits and the rebellious look on life. That's just me, though.

A bigger part of the community seems to be able to identify themselves with the Kurzicks more at the moment though, so it's going to be fine in terms of balance.

A recent poll showed 54% Kurzick, 14% undecided and 32% Luxon, that's after the preview event. Who knows what the retail will bring.

We had a poll for our guild 2 Were gonna go kuzick's (Hey I'm goth you meanies! lol j/k it's fine )

We had one guy make a comparision made a few of us laugh compaireing the Luxon's to the Empire (cause of the "magical walking machene") and Kurzick's to Jedi's.....

I'd like to play the weaker side tho it means i'd learn more Pvp wise and would have to improve and get alot better to stay competitive...I'd enjoy that more than totally killing team after team...I was glad I heard alot of people were going Luxon before the event and I havn't heard much after....

O well I just wanta have fun eaither way!
