easter eggs

I'd like to see some things worth seeing that are little known or even unexplored. Except for landscapes it seems that most of the cool areas are involved in missions or quests. After spending a few hours trekking to get Althea's Ashes, then exploring Dragon's Gullet cuz it's right there, wouldn't it be cool to stumble across a shrine to some ancient hero with a bit of lore inscribed at the foot of the statue? There's a few cool things in the desert, but many of the great statues that are there are recycled.
I'd also like to see more villages like the Ascalon refugee settlement in North Kryta. It was cool to go to a village that you have to travel to reach every time. I think it'd be neat to go through the desert and into unknown lands and then stumble on a small tribe, complete with quests, collectors, merchants, but no map travel.

yeh, that would be good.

I agree, perhaps in the expansions, they should add more "out-of-the-place" areas that require walking to, but don't really impact the story, so those who want to just do the missions aren't bothered. In other MMORPG's, much of the excitement was simply being able to travel with friends and explore together.
While many people hated the crystal desert, I actually enjoyed it, because it was very open-ended, and not so linear like most of the game. The reason I don't really play the PvE in this game is because it's so linear and seems like the developers primarily intended you to play it in order to beat it, and not to have fun. Since it seems like the future expansions are aimed more at PvE'ers, I hope they make the world much more open-ended (like pre-searing was.)

The Lost strongobx outside of thunderhead keep is a good example of an easter egg. Random and can never be expected. Random mobs being taken out by that bunny from presear.
Random jokes or events that happen occasionally might encourage some players to explore areas they havent been to yet.
Like the area that has the four lvl 18 bone dragons and lvl 30 bone dragon all garding a shrine.

I agree. Some randomness would definitely encourage more exploration and pve in general. As it is, once you go through a place once, you know everything about it. That much linearity leaves little reason for people to redo areas. (other than to grind).
I just got to the crystal desert, so hopefully this nonlinearity you're talking about will change things up a bit.

I absolutely love this idea...discovering places that are "off the beaten path" is always very exciting

"I feel like no one notices me anymore."
"I know what you mean. Its like they don't see the real me."
Stuff like that makes me giggle.

I found one last night that you may enjoy. Went to Mineral Springs for a skill cap or two, and after getting them, I decide just to run around and enjoy the three elite skills in my bar while I can (Flourish, Life Transfer, and Well of Power if you must know). I went all the way to the North East of Mineral Springs and found an ice cave guarded by at least 30 ice imps and siege ice golems. Got slaughtered once, came back got slaughtered again (wearing them down), and on the third pass got them.
Only to have more just a little bit further inside....but in that brief moment before I engaged the next group, I saw a statue of Lyssa (with favor) sitting beside a frozen lake with light reflecting off the ice walls surrounding it. I know GW is pretty, but this was majestic. I had to /kneel at the statue, but alas the ice imps were protective of their treasured Lyssa and my henchies were not feeling the beauty of the moment, so a battle broke out. I knowing there had to be something more instore for this ice cave, charged head long up a snowy path leading around the edge of the lake. Only to run head long into a Lvl 28 ice beast (elemental) and 8 of those shadow beasts with sig of judgement.
In the 10 seconds GW gives me to lie face down and ponder my demise, I pressed shift (left alt for most) and looked around, to my suprise the Seer (infusion run) was named further up my path...I don't think you can access the mission area, but I would like to know what those beasts didn't want me to find. Probably going to change my sub profession and go back again on the flimsy excuse of a skill cap.
