well first off are u pve or pvp? mantra of recall is great to spam as much as possible. they both have there advantages an ddis advantages. some people use mantra of recall to continually gain energy others use energy gain for energy when needed. myself i prefer channeling its elite if you place yourself in the right spot.

I prefer Energy Drain. Mantra of Recall offers more energy-per-minute, but it's hard to manage. And it won't help you much at all if you die and get signet-rezzed. Plus, it's fun to attack an enemy's energy while playing a monk.
The only real problem with Energy Drain, IME, is that it doesn't give much energy for an elite. You'll probably want to bring Inspired Hex or Drain Enchantment as well to keep yourself going.
