Although it may be faster..its a lot less secure, if you left guild wars running by mistake and someone went on after...they could only mess up one of your characters, which is still bad..but I'd prefer to have my other characters safe, and spend under a minute switching between characters...then be able to switch while logged in and have all my characters basically messed over...

I'm talking about the convinience for the people competent enough not to leave the game running by accident knowing other people get on the PC. User error should'nt impede good design.

If you use -password to start Guild Wars in the first place, which removes the need to enter password, F12 will put you to character selection screen.

Yes. I am getting tired of having to type "t76R(R^rC(%f957-" every time

Now this is good, cept for the fact that this is risk for hacks, although convenient.

Put the target of the icon for guild wars as "C://program files/guild wars(or whatever your thing is)" then after the quote marks, put a space and -password=yourpassword

Like so :
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -password=Biff9000

Assuming biff9000 is your password, that is :P

My brother did this.. but I wont because i'm scared something will go wrong. Is this 100% guaranteed to be safer than typing it in? Im not a computer guy so I wouldn't know if altering a simple code like that can ever mess something up.

I don't believe anything can happen by doing this (just speculation). I used to do similar to single player games like vampire the masquerade by adding -console. I was trying -x (x representing my password) thnx for the clear up.

Mess something up? No it won't. However...

Pros: Since you will not be typing it in, you will be immune to keyloggers. Of course you should never have keyloggers in your computer so this is not really a pro. Just make sure you don't download suspicious utilities for the game and let this be a non-issue.

Cons: Anyone who has physical or networked access to your computer will be able to just read your password. If you think someone could just walk by and sit against your computer, don't do it. If you use your box at home and it's available only to you, it's a nice convenience.

People, arenanet previously stated it was a security issue with the character change stuff. That is why they have it log off for character swap.
