What if you block the attacks with a diff skill (illusionary weapon). would it work to gain energy ?
Allen Icee
I'm not sure, but a friend of mine uses this in his E/W geomancer, its insanely over powered if you ask me.
Its two skills in one, regaining energy, and having a nice chance to block melee attacks, this is THE bread-and-butter E/W skill.

75% evades, blind, and hexes won't work on IW.
Bonneti's Defence is the single most used Warrior skill that Mo/W pack. Or, at least, for farmers.

You can get Bonnetti's Defense at Beacon's Perch via Deserters quest.
Wild Blow kills Bonetti's Defense, so I stay clear of mobs packing this skill.

I recently picked up this skill to give it a test drive in PVP. Now, perhaps I don't understand how this skill works, which probably is the case, but I have two "gripes" about this skill...
First of all, I have been using this skills for several days, in many matches in Competition Arenas, and I have noticed that whenever Bonetti's successfully blocks an attack from, say, a warrior, I gain 5 energy. Sounds great right? Well, the part I probably misunderstand about this skill, is when I use Bonetti's and I observe an Ele missing two, three times with his/her wand attacks yet I do not gain 5 energy. Seems like this skills is only useful for gaining energy when I'm getting attqacked by a warrior.
Secondly, I have noticed that I'm not exactly getting the "75% chance to block attacks" as stated in the skill description. This happens far too often for it to be a coincidence. Yeah perhaps the other player is using a skill that guarantees a hit, or perhaps something like Wild Blow is being used against me. But keep in mind, I have used this skill far too long. The 75% chance to block seems more like a 10% chance to block, the way I've observed it.
Some clarification would be nice. Thanks

You've not quite read the description correctly.
You gain a "75% chance to evade" on non-spell attacks -- i.e. Swords, Axes, Hammers, Projectiles ( Arrows, Wanding )
But you only gain 5 energy on every melee attack evaded -- i.e. Sword, Axe, Hammer.
Bear in mind there are also attacks that specifically hit through or end stances. Wild Blow will end a Stance, whilst skills like: Swift Chop, Seeking Blade and Irresistible Blow will hit through it without ending it. Like Wild Blow they can't be blocked or evaded. Your opponents also still have a 25% chance to hit you normally.

this is my bread and butter skill when griffon farming, without this, the build is in fact, nonusable. Seeing as Bonetti's is melee, and griffs in the desert are warriors, it doesn't take a genious to figure Bonettis+AOE's equals ownage. but since the last patch, it really just gives you energy for attack skills, seein as AOE's when cast, the enemies flee in <said direction>. But this skill still rocks, and I keep it permanently on my skill bar even if im not using tactics, can't go wrong since it runs off adrenaline
