dmg+10-15%(under a preparation)
Holy
1st of all im sure this idea has been brouhgt up before however i searched and got no results for it in this forum.
i know for one that dmg + under a preparation for some builds of a ranger could mean constant dmg becaouse most preparations last 24 seconds and have a 12 second recharge.
but just like warriors have their (in stance) to use for certain builds, i think rangers should have the same privilage.(i have both a lvl20 warrior and ranger)
so im not being biased or picking on warriors...but i just think it would be fair
tell me wat u think. any suggestions are welcome

Dracus Steelbow
I think that is a pretty cool idea, with the new factions armor that gives +armor while using a prep, a dmg+ while using prep, would be amazing. Also, rangers can use the stance mod, things like SQ, or Storm Chaser are stances
Hunter Sharparrow
They have +damage while enchanted and have upkeep enchantments that allow the play to get the +damage every hit untill removed (by self or foe) and a stance tank can keep stances on indefinitly so why not have "Prepared".
Indefinitly provided they have the energy and/or adrenaline.

Would be a nice addition. But I wanted to point out that the Factions scout armor isnt working properly, only giving the bonus while "casting" the preparation and not while under the effects of the prep.
I bring this up because it could affect this idea as well.

rangers have stances as well, and bows that give + damage while in a stance. (lightning reflexes, whirling defence, etc.. and Mesmer Stances if mesmer is secondary..)
I too have a lvl 20 Warrior and lvl 20 Ranger, so i'm not against this, but to be completly honest it probably won't be a mod people will want on their bows.
15% unconditional > 15% ^ 50 > 15% while enchanted > 15% while stanced > 15% while prepped would be my outcome...
but why not..

I don't know... all the other conditional 15%+ can be removed. The only way to stop a ranger from using a prep would be to interrupt it, and well, that's kinda like stopping them by killing them. Misses the point.
The Fox
I'd sure use it.
Hunter Sharparrow
The conditional +15% for while enchanted can be cancelled but thats because if it couldn't the use of an upkeep would be unstoppable in general. Stances for tanks occur instantly and can't be shutdown any easier than a prep can.
How about while under the influence of a spirit?
It wouldn't be too much of a problem because even though they last a long time they can also be killed. A problem would be that some spirits effect everyone even the other team unless they had it so that only the person or team that summoned the spirit would get the effect.

Stances can at least be removed by Wild Blow. Preparations... once they're on, they stay on until they run out.
Hunter Sharparrow
Since Wild Blow is a warrior skill to shutdown stances then maybe they can just add a ranger skill to shut down preps.

Bowbreaker:
Bow attack skill
10e N/A cast 10 recharge
If Bowbreaker hits and target foe has a preparation on it, that foe takes 2...24[30] extra damage, and the preparation ends. If the foe does not have a preparation on it, Bowbreaker is disabled for an additional 15...10[8] seconds.
Doesn't really matter though, they'd have to introduce it in an expansion, and then not everybody would be able to use it.

I also think that a barbed string would be a nice idea considering that we have Melandru's arrows for bleeding. If there is one in game I've never seen it.

if there is a way to end preperations, then yes, otherwise, no, never
also there has to be more than one skill to do it. not just some odd skill that will never be used.
whis would be the same as giving warriors +dmg while under the effect of a shout

preparations can be inturrupted by punishing shot, distracting shot, savage shot, incandiary arrows, distrupting chop, leech signet, distracting blow
thats all the inturruptions for a single action thats not a spellthere is for now i think.
with the update it will be even more
preparations take 2 seconds to load at least so u have plenty of time to inturrupt a ranger using one.

Wild Blow
Melee Attack. Lose all adrenaline.
If it hits, this attack will result in a
critical hit and any stance being
used by your target ends. This
attack can not be "blocked" or
"evaded".
Now unless your a w/r or r/w you won't have adrenaline to lose so that part wouldn't be needed. The lose of all adrenaline is the balance though to there would have to be something similar that would effect the ranger unless they remove the critical hit part.
Arrow Breaker (name can be anything)

Something along those lines.

Yeah, but "cannot be blocked/evaded" isn't as meaningful, what with most stances evading/blocking your attacks, whereas preparations are just there. So how about bonus damage instead?
Hunter Sharparrow
Sure. I just kept it as it was in that part because the ranger has stances that evade/block and a R/W would have even more so they could use a stance like that to keep their prep.

i see ur point guys...i guess that it would be betetr if Anet just put some kind of damage upgrade under a preparation....
primmed string
dmg+1...5 (just like vampiric) while under a preperation
armor-5(under a preperation)
i think that would work pretty well...feel free to give me any suggestions about the armor-5...i just tried not to copy zealous or vampiric

Is there an easy indicator when I target an enemy that lets me know they are under the effects of a preparation? I can tell when someone is under an enchantment (yellow arrow) and/or using a stance (skill usage indicator). But if a ranger uses a prep before I can target them I don't think I can easily tell that they are under the effects of a prep. Before you introduce a skill to cancel preparations, modify the user interface to let me know when I can use this skill.
Align
You can't see when someone is using a stance either unless they just used it.
