I swear I have almost the exact specs as you from top to bottom although I have XP Pro and the 6800 videocard, and I have this same problem. It freezes up on me sometimes. Either just during the game whenever, or mosre often when I try to log out. I locks up on me when I try to log out 1 out of 3 times.
I used to have 2 gigs of RAM but took out 1 gig because I was having a ton of graphical problems. Mostly artifacts.
This game ran better on my machine before I upgraded it a month ago. I used to have a 1.2 proc, 512 ram and the 5200 card. It runs worse on a much powerful machine. After a while I get horrible slow down, mostly when im in towns. It really stinks. IVe even considered switching to another MMO because I have been burned by this crashing so many times over the last month. Ive dissapeared from teams in the middle of a mission or PvP. It always comes at the worst times and I dont even hardly play the game anymore because of it.

Does it happen to other games? If so, has this always happened?
Has GW always done this?
Is the interior of your PC clean? Full of dust?

More than likely your power supply can't handle the power required for your new components.

Could it be the old favourite, your graphics card is overheating? I had a 6600GT go tits-up on me because the fan decided to come loose from it's spindle and was not working to cool the card.

Just to make sure it is not an overheating problem. Download Coolbits and check. Scroll down that page and hit "I agree" to download the file. It is a registry key so go ahead and add it once you extract it.
What this will do is add 2 extra options in your vid card advanced settings. Temperature settings and Clock frequency settings. Click on temperature settings to see how hot your card is running...
here is a screenshot of what you are looking for.
That screenshot was taken with guild wars running for about an hour. If you are experiencing temperatures much higher than this while playing guild wars it is possible that you need to break the case open, buy a can of compressed air and do some cleaning. Most people dont realize the effects dust can have on a computers performance.

the whole system freezes or just guild wars stops responding? if it's the whole system then here's another vote for overheating.
