Ascension Ranger

right, ive managed to get all the ascension missions completed whilst still being only lvl 4. thing is, now i cant beat the dopple :/ im R/Me with charm animal, 3 spirits, ignite arrows imagined burden and troll ungent, any ideas?

Hmm.. its pretty hard on lvl 4, but look for power-levler and lvl up to ~10
Then, buy like 1-2 more spirits, Bring skillbar with your 4-5 spirits, and you will win

ok im being powerlvled now, ill try and reach 9 marks so i can use my graygores and hopefull i should get him then

i used troll urgent and distracting shot

i went close to him so he used his axe and couldt use distacting on my troll he and i distracting hsi troll while keeping mine up all the time

With Mesmer secondary, just use Empathy and dodge his arrows (take a step back after entering for easier dodging), you may bring Distracting Shot and Troll Unguent (see below).

An alternative would be to bring 6 Spirits (which the Doppelganger casts in the beginning), Distracting Shot and Troll Unguent. Use Distracting Shot to interrupt his Troll Unguent. By the time the Doppelganger finishes to cast the Spirit's he's nearly dead.

Way back when I did this with a ranger, I filled up on pretty much useless skills, a couple spirits, and Ignite Arrows. If I remember correctly, I mostly used Ignite Arrows and he kept running from the AoE dmg, which allowed me to finish him off. But, this was a while ago, and I was quite a bit highler lvl than 4 (or 10 for that matter). But, its worth a shot for you I guess.

how i did it (at lvl 20 however), I brought favorable winds the 2nd time through after figuring out the 1st time he would use it, I then brought marksman's wager, troll, and distracting shot. I just started off attacking him while he's casting spirit. after he cast the spirit he used wager. when he completed using wager he tried casting troll but i used my dis shot and then used my wager, he dis shot that and i then cast troll. was very easy for me being lvl20, but i can see how at lvl 4 your having trouble

havelock's suggestion sounds like it would work. was going to suggest it but he already has.

Same as Leeky, I was level 8 as a R/Me, you need two skills only on your bar, Distracting shot and Troll Unguent. Move right up to the him as he will switch to mele weapon. Target (make sure you highlight him) and start shooting, watch for him to cast Troll, when he does, hit em with Distracting shot. Cast Troll on yourself when your able to.

Yea, lots of arrow buffing skills, FW, kindle arrows, troll and distracting, move to close range while he drops spirits, distract his troll, etc. Took my lvl 20 about 20-25 secs.

Actually, I beat the doppleganger real easily with just a pet and basic pet skills. He doesn't bother to bring a pet with him (at least he didn't for me a month ago, but they might've fixed that). I beat him real fast and he just kinda stood around using call of haste/call of protection.

I just brought all pet skills. I beat him in 30 seconds.

I didn't upgrade anything but Expertise and Beast Mastery.

just a hint for R/Mo bring healing breeze and whatever else...it doesnt matter with breeze. (LOL that dumb dopple doesnt use breeze...for sum messed up reason)

lol anything mesmer is super easy to ascend. from ranger skills take some defence to blok incoming arrows.
build:

some stance (practiced, lightning reflexes, distortion etc)
backfire
empathy

rest of skill bar fill with very usless enchants. as soon as you get in, get in your stance, then cast backfire and empathy. then just stand and see him suicide... lol

btw- when i tried to bring my pet in there, it didnt appear, EVER, maby it was a bug that was fixed, but my way i finished him in 3 minutes without attaking once.
