RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO them. If I get 50 ecto drops in one run they're mine. Likewise, if they get 50 and none for me, I'll be pissed, but go for another run in hope for some better luck.

Don't complain, the necros get an easy ride, the poor monk has to sit there and fight for its life while it watches the necro get half its loot.

Monk takes damage. Necro deals it. Works out fine to me.

I'm sorry, but I've been screwed multiple times by monks saying "50/50 ecto?" and then dropping after smites are done (and they have all the ectos cause the random gods like to reward losers I guess). Course then they always seem to go off line right afterwards...

That being said, don't add to the problem of twinks and annoying sorts - if a monk is kind enough to let the mobs beat on him, then you should be "giving" enough to let your time be wasted.

Hey! I play a 55 monk and don't pull any of this kind of stuff. On the flip side, most ss/sv's seem to be nice people as far as drop sharing goes. I've always been of the philosophy that if it drops for you, it's yours.

I haven't done a run with a random ss in a while, though. I mostly stick to spider runs with guildies, they pay much better and are more fun. I do remember having some trouble with ss/sv's who don't quite realize that things are beating the heck out of you while they're sitting back there. Seriously, would it kill you to throw a sv my way against the grasping darkness so I can tank more than 3 or 4? Or my personal favorite, the guy who said he "was trying to remember his combo" after I had a big mob of smites raging in my face.

Well, if any of your are looking for a more "stable" partner, I'd be happy to help.

I play a necro and ignore this business with the monkbots, but I do want to get some ecto going. So is there a place on this site where there is a necro build for this, and a strategy guide. I use SS all the time, but sv? Is that Spinal Shivers? That is a acronym that I don't know. Please point me in the right direction....

check under the Campfire forum, necro section. There are about a billion suggested SS/SV builds. I have to say though that I've found using an SS/SV with a 55 monk is rather challenging and I infinitely prefer trapping groups for the underworld. Still SS/SV can be an incredible asset to any PVE team, they even work well in ToPK despite the popularity of the B/P teams. I've done both types , B/P with my ranger , and then ran my SS, with the slight modification of adding Mantra of Resolve to make me uninterruptable, along with an MM, an excellent Tank, a nuker and two monks and we cleared it just as fast if not faster than the B/P group. SS is what I like to call a force multiplier. It can make a slack party perform like a stacked party.

I have both 55 monk and SS SV necro. Personally SS SVs have no reason to complain. SS SVs didnt dish out 50K or more in Runes...

Really? So the right to complain is directly proportional to the amount of money spent in runes? In that case warriors should be able to complain about everything under the sun without rebuke since those Superior Absorbs really hurt the old wallet there.

I agree to the extent that neither should complain! I have a 55 Ele that will perform just as good as a Monk and I only spent ~1K on runes. Mesmers and Necros can 55 just as well.

its not the legitimate player monks that the problem is with. some time log a n/me 20 into toa. if you dont get 5 blind invites within 10 minutes either all the bots are in uw or your dist doesnt have favor. i even got one yesterday on logging in when america didnt have favor.

I think the issue here is those bot 55's. There has to be a way to shut them down. I think I saw it suggested somewhere that if the monk doesn't use Spellbreaker within the first couple battles, log out of there and cut your losses. I am an amateur 55'er (no pro, but I have plenty of experience). When I go to the UW with a random SS/SV necro, I always pay the way (unless they kindly beat me to it) and we always agree to go 50/50 on the ecto drops. I've never had a problem doing this, and as thanks, I always give the necro the odd ecto drop, if there is an odd number. I've met several good people this way. Granted, I'm destined to be burned with this kind playing style, but I just take it all in stride.
I don't think a strike will do much good. Most of the "real" 55 monks already have steady partners that they party with. If anything, check their skills they use on the first batch of aatxes. If you don't see SB, get outta there. Any 55 monk packing SoJ is just waiting to screw you.
