Is this a bug with exhastion?

so my character had alot of spells that caused exhaustion... when i cast a bunch of them and was down to 20ish mana then waited for my mana to recharge for a long while say my exhastion went to 30ish. The next few spells i cast cost 0 mana to cast i.e. it appeared that my mana was actually recharging past the exhastion max and i was using mana i couldnt see.

So the only effect exhastion had was if i got exhausted below the cost of my spells i couldnt cast them.

either the mana platueing at the max mana due to exhastion is broke or the graphic isn't correctly representing exhastion. i hope the latter is true cuz i love my character and having exhastion cap my mana would nurf him :/.

Err, exhaustion is a temporary cap on maximum mana. Could you please clarify your post?

It happened to me last BWE, it didnt occur to me this BWE because I was more into energy management.

What happen is this...

Let's say you are a Air Elementalist...
You keep using gale, which load up a HUGE exhausion... once it get over to like 20 max energy, you can actually still cast a spell that cost 25 energy while using barely any energy from your current energy pool, as if you actually have more than 20 energy but it was just not showing.

Yes, it is most likely a bug.

It not a bug, it's the way exhaustion works. Exhaustion reduces your maximum useable energy, not your maximum energy. So you can actually have 50 energy stored up, but be exhausted to the point where you only have 10 available. So in this case, you can only cast spells which cost 10en or less, but casting will appear to use no energy, because you're only reducing your energy from 50 to 40, which obviously won't be displayed on your energy bar.

pharalon thanks for clearing that up . Anyway i like it how it is right now it doesnt really cause inbalances and it does have a real negative effect for non primary ele's.

I wish you could see how much mana you had behind the exhastion though...

Edit: I just looked at guildwarsguru's definition of exhastion and it isnt clear on this point either.
