You can still change it in the game settings. After that you get about 6 weeks to verify the new adress. If your old adress hasn't answered back in that time, the new adress is deemed valid.

@Martakon: I don't think you can change the e-mail address by yourself in your case. No amount of waiting can change this, so do not lose time. You need to send a message to the ArenaNet support. They will probably need some kind of verification that the owner of the account is really you. |

I still don't get the problem. I have changed from a non-existing email to an existing one. I didn't have that problem at all.
I'm sorry, I don't get it.

Whoops. Just tried it and the verification mail is sent directly to the new e-mail address; you don't even have to wait 6 weeks for the address change to take effect.
Confused it with the password change; my bad.
@Martakon: Just log in to your PlayNC master account via plaync.com (not the Guild Wars account) and change your mail address. Confirmation mail will arrive shortly.

Guildwars.com > support > search for "email address" and you get all the details.

Ok here is the thing, its not 6 weeks, its 7 days.
Click on change email, you have to type the old one and the password
Then you have to type the new email.
There are a number of options but I will mention the one thats your case.
Anet sends 2 emails that you have to accept, one to the old email and one to the new one.
Now since you have no access to the old email you just have to click on the email at the new account.
You have to wait 7 days to be able to use the new email to login, BUT you can still login using the old email.
In 7 days try and login with your new email and you should be able to.
Once you do that go ahead and try the old email and you will get a message saying that the account does not exist.
Easy.
