everytime you reveal a good spot, it gets nerfed! let the people here that dont know about the spots be creative enough to think for themselves! its not so hard to find it out yourself, just go out and kill some enemies, and see which ones drop good items in which location and on a regular basis and there you go!! i found a farming spot where i get 1,5k in 5 minutes, and hell no, im not gonna tell you where it is, or else it will get nerfed!!

if you find a place (in real life) were there is gold or a treasure, are you gonna tell everyone, so that it will be gone in a short time, or keep it to yourself and keep the treasure for yourself?

think about it, before you reveal a secret that is meant to stay secret...

Sure, there are some people who think just of themselves, in real life or in a game... but fortunately there are more often people who are unselfish and want to share the good times with others.

Who are you to dictate what is and is not meant to be a secret in this game?

If everyone lived in their own little instanced world, hell yeah I'd tell them where it is in theirs.

With chapter 2 weeks away, and a new economy of farming and items being implemented who cares. All these items will be next to worthless anyways with all the new skins and dual mod collector wands etc.

Personally I don't care any longer if the uber spots are nerfed again. Everything has been nerfed several times already since the game's release. Might as well give some people the opportunity to make a little bit of gold or get some nice drops to start chapter 2 with. Why be greedy it's a video game.

Now when chapter 2 hits, and people get farther in and find the new great spots to farm, people arent going to be giving up their honey holes...this will hold true until some jerk tries to sell it on ebay in a "guide." Once it hits ebay in a guide I guarantee spots will be leaked very soon afterwards, then the nerf bat will be swung on us all once again, and again and again.

There's really not much left to do in this chapter but sit and wait for the next part.

If information is public, a person should not be impeded in finding it.
Say you've won the lottery. You don't want the details to come out. Do you want to log on to see someone announcing it? No, of course not, because you'll have relatives coming out of the woodwork wanting money!

There is a difference between public and secret information. Lottery winnings might be secret. So might the details of a breakup. War of the Roses? Public. Chinese (real China, real farming, not GW) farming conditions? Public. Dubya's latest speech? Public.

Uber farming spot? Secret.

Et voici.

Oh I understand perfectly. Griffon farming wasn't nerfed because everyone knew about it. It was nerfed because of the ridiculous amount of bots involved in it. Real players have a tendancy to have a few different farming spots.

The concept of a honeypot farming spot died out months ago when people farmed drakes in Gates of Kryta and Tengu in NKP and Tears of the Fallen.

Anet keep track of how goes where and wealth of players. They will spot any farming spots or follow the bots (there good at finding them).

Unless a forum has policy of certain topics to make it a no no it will be free flow of information. Best thing is to not tell anyone and hope someone else doesn't find and wants to share to the world.

True, but then again, it's up to the person. If they discover the spot and feel they should announce it to the community, it is their right to do so. Likewise with lottery, you can announce the details of you winning it, or of your breakup.

What he's asking is not for people to stop trying to pry into things but for people to stop sharing information they have every right to.

Example: Ryder finds out that farming mergoyal brings in big money and spams GWG with locations. People and bots all converge on listed location and make huge profit. Anet reads the information and decides "oh thats not right" and nerfs the location. Now Mergoyals drop crap

Or...

Ryder finds out that Skales are particularly fond of dropping some good items so he farms the hell out of them. But having learned from his mergoyal leason, Ryder does not share his location and Anet does not nerf it.

I'm like Ryder in example #2. When I find a good spot, I keep it to myself.

Its very easy to write a program to track player activity at all times.

take the trolls for excample, everyone and their mother knows about them and has farmed them sometimes in their life. Whenever a person leaves of joins a zone, that is recorded and saved somewhere. if 30% (exhageration) of all players are visiting Talus schute for 70% of their total play time, that propably is also recorded and investigated.

With computers nowadays, you don't need to do any manual work. Remember, everything you do as a player is recorded.

Noooo, no. A bot is either a character controlled by a computer program, or a computer program to control a character.
Some people use them to have their character run and kill 24/7. Nerfing them is difficult and often has deep-rooted consequences.

Hmm, I don't know of any real life spots with treasure that automatically regenerates every time you leave the area ...

Hey, great that you found a farming spot that works for you, and you've chosen not to share the info. Congratulations ... so what was the point of your post again? Are you aggrivated someone revealed a spot you used? I guarantee you weren't the first person to think of farming there, sorry to be the bearer of bad news

BS. The last nerf was when the scarabs invaded the griffon farming ground. ANet certainly didn't need gwguru to tell them about that farming ground (or any other, for that matter).
And I'm not even sure that was a nerf.

Hey guys, whats easier here?

A} Looking through all the logs and coding that are created by the 1 million + users and decifer where everyone is farming at or....

B} Take 2 min and log onto a fansite and check the posts and look for a thread that says "NEW FARMING SPOT - GOLDS DROPPING LIKE CANDY"

Seems like a simple answer to me. So I would have to agree that posting a good farming spot is not helping anyone. Especially the person who is farming that spot.

I do see his point (disagree with it). Anet allows players to do farming, it's the bot farming or extreme farming (usually done by sweat shops).

The more public the info is the more people use the more it causes anet to look at the Farming of X vs Effect of X on there game market and if it needs to be tweaked. They stated there fine but if it is causing trouble, they will tweak it.

The map stays the same. Program detects where monsters are. Bot runs towards to aggro. Bot kills.

Just do a search of the database for account with an amount of gold > X
Or look for all character with 55hp and then search where are there "frequent" spot map points.
Not discounting if Gaile or Alex goes hey ... this is too easy by seeing a post either.

The point is this method of community chat is a freedom of information the way it's set up.

You know the armour in Factions (15k) looks better than FoW imo, lol.

FoW is gonna make you look nothing special in Factions.

And not really, they can just check how many times a certain monster is called and see if it happens daily to see if there being farmed.

It's 46 now .

But seriously, people, chill. So what? Does it really matter? SOMEONE is going to tell people if they find a good farming spot. It's pretty much guaranteed. So allow me to invite you to do the following:

Take a deep breath.

You are true, so many logs, so little time... over a million people play GW; STOP right there! Think about it.... of those million+ people, they notice this one spot in the game getting played like no other spot by hundreds upon hundreds of people, THAT will definitely stick out from the other logs. It's like catching a glimpse of that little black ugly duckling within the group of little yellow ducklings in that cartoon! lol BUT NOT like looking for a needle in a haystack!
