Hi all,

first of all I want to say that I dont want to pretend I'm a saint or something.

The reason why I post this thread is because there are some topics where it's nearly impossible to have a mature debate cause of many flaming posts. The best known topics with flaming threads (both ingame and here) are:

Iway
Farming
Running

GW now has over 1 million users, everyone will have his/her opinion about all kinds of parts on the game. I assume that when you're discussing something in daily life with someone, or when someone has totally different interests, you won't start to flame at him/her when that person for having a different opinion than you.

Having different opinions is good, life would be boring if we all think in the same direction. Just imagine if the whole world would listen to the same music over and over again. However, when debating with a different-minded person, debate with respect, give reasons why you don't agree, but don't start flaming that person if he plays GW in a different way than you. If someone changes his mind after discussing something, great! If not, hehe, no hard feelings.

Another reason why I posted this thread is because of Factions. As we all know, you can choose between Luxon and Kurzick. I've already seen posts about Luxon being noobish or whatever. Will a luxon/kurzick thread end up in the same way as the 3 topics I've mentioned earlier? I surely hope not.

Discussing things in a civilized manner means the possibility of learning from eachother. Flaming usually results in not willing to change your mind about something, or not willing to try something different.

To illustrate a nice thing what happened when exchanging thoughts, this is what occured in Heroes Ascent about a month ago:

I was chatting with someone there about the builds we were currently playing in. I had doubts about the build he was playing and vice versa. We agreed that we would both play eachothers build. Later we PMed eachother and we both had so much fun afterwards. Both of us discovered a new style of playing which gave us a whole new element when playing GW.

Stay open-minded, express your opinion respectfully and have fun!

note: not sure if this is the right forum since this subject both applies to this site and GW itself.
