Hod swords will NOT be back, they were removed for a reason, and dont listen to rumors, 99% of them are false.

There was a NPC in the FPE who said that he bought a lot of swords at HoD.

That's basicly the source of the rumors, it says nothing about the fact that it will actually be the HoD swords.

Yeah he said he made a lot of money getting nice weapons from Henge of Denravi.
He then offers you to buy a sword but no purchase menu.
So maybe they will add it there.

Maybe he bought a bunch of swords after they changed them...

I was only pointing out the source of the rumours I myself don't believe that a removed item will come back. Then there would be no point in removing it in the first place.
Besides, it would open up a window of oppertunity for scammers, bringing the new HoD swords to chapt 1 and selling it as the RARE REMOVED FROM GAME 100k+ HoD swords they are now.

Although I could afford such a weapon now, I can't see spending so much on anything, so I would welcome another energy sword in the game. I would secretly laugh at those that bought anything for way more than it's worth, but that's just the evil in me.....lol

Same here but I also would not buy it, especially when a FFS is much better than the +5 energy from an HoD sword.

Well we have to consider to possibility that the people discouraging the rumor might be the people trying to maintain profit off of the HoD swords. Who knows, maybe it will come back, maybe not. Maybe they'll do something different like a +5 sword pommel/axe grip/hammer grip/bow grip. This would still make the HoD the better sword, but a +5 nrg sword would help immensely these days even without a bonus 20% enchanting. With all the weapon swapping going on it would be quite helpful to be able to have a -5 nrg sword and then a +5 nrg sword that looks exactly the same. After that all you need to do is find a two offhands that look alike. Also, keeping this in mind the people who have enough money to afford an HoD sword already have an advantage over everyone else in PvP. Guild Wars is supposed to be a game where everyone can compete equally in PvP equipment/skill wise, and then from there those who commit more time to the game get special things like rank in PvP and rare skins for armor/weapons in PvE. It would make sense that if they aren't going to purge the weapons from the game, they'll have to bring it back for all the people who are at a disadvantage.

The guy in the FPE was just a fun gag by A.net showing how the Chapter 1 can affect Chapter 2.

Yes, but don't I recall seeing a screenshot of a +5e sword that dropped for someone in the FPE? Or am I delusional?

Here's the deal.

Yes, A-Net removed the HoD Sword and Axe, along with the +5 energy bow from Piken Square, for a reason. They did it for much the same reason Wizards of the Coast doesn't reprint certain popular cards in the Magic the Gathering CCG, (like Dark Ritual). Just as Dark Ritual was too out of place on the color wheel and similar cards were moved to the color red, + Energy weapons didn't have a place as warrior and ranger weapons, and were relegated entirely to wands and staves. Notice the Noloni Academy +5 energy all the time Wand was never removed.

That being said, A-Net is also not against having these weapons used. If they were, if A-Net truely believed they made a mistake by creating these weapons in the first place, they would have changed all the copies of them in our inventories to just plain white items, just like they did with the SOA Axe that could be modded with extra Axe Grips.

And since they aren't against us using these + energy weapons, there is a chance that they may decide to reintroduce them to the game, as Wizards has with Dark Ritual from time to time. So, yes, there is a chance they could bring back certain HoD items with the release of Factions. They could flood the market with them until there are enough of them that the price of an HoD item drops to a reasonable 50K or so, then cut the supply off again, just so that the economy balances out. It actually sounds reasonable, seeing as how A-Net insists that new players shouldn't have to grind PvE to get everything they need to play evenly in PvP. The HoD sword (And Axe too)is soooo rare right now, that new players have no chance of obtaining one without hours and hours and possibly days and days of money gathering. A-Net, may seek to fix this by rereleasing the items for a short time.

That's my take on this subject. Comments?
