I use healing signet because it speeds up my natural regen significantly, especially after IoW. Also, if balanced is down and a wurm is hitting me it's easier to stand still till it recharges and use sig+distortion to stay alive
Yeah, Rogue armor would have made it easier, but I used full enchanter so meh.
On that particular attempt that I took the screenshots on, I did not die at all. Either I get a good spawn and die horrribly or I get an ok one and make it through. My success rate isn't that good, but that was my first time through some of the areas

It must be nice to have every single skill in the game, so that whenever you want you can put on Charge and Balanced Stance
Sure is

Nice, I will try this one too!
I have succeeded with ele only once (but I haven't tried further after I made it once)
The huge problem with ele is hexes atleast mesmer can deal with both that AND cripple...
But mesmer has less possible armor but distortion...

Worst part of the run is the first part with the avicara - wurms usually spawn there, meaining you have to run through with Charge+Balance only. Only comfort is enchants get removed, meaning you get a 253 heal midway through the tunnel... but if the wurms keep following, you are dead
The avicara tunnel-thing I mentioned is the one in the first picture... if you get that kind of wurm spawn there, bye bye

Woa Nice O.o ... Grats on it... So now all chars but the necro has made a run to the forge y?
(This threads make me feel how bad a Forgerunner i am xD)

Is this really true Avarre? Do you really have every skill in game?

Yep. I have currently 6,684,301 xp and 479 skill points (372 spent).

Absolutely amazing. As if I needed another incentive to make a Mesmer as soon as I get my 2 new slots.

Well Done Excellent work.

WOW you know mesmers way to well this is beautiful avarre! You must be Lyssa you must be!, awsome work!
14 Apr 2006 at 21:06 - 19
I've tried like 30 times and I cant get past the wurm tunnel.
Any tips?
=)
15 Apr 2006 at 03:17 - 20
Try to get close to the tunnel without using any speed boosts. When the first wurm shows up, just struggle right up to avicara (you mean that tunnel, right) aggro. Heal up between wurm hits, then trigger balanced and charge and make a break for it. If you strafe you can generally avoid avicara damage, and charge should get you clear. If it wears off and wurm is still on you, IoH! Try to get a spawn where you meet only 1... but 2 is possible I think.
Once there are no more wurms hitting you, stop immediately for regen.

Avarre.. you've gone beyond the realm of "Bored Mesmer" now
15 Apr 2006 at 03:47 - 22
I'm transcendant!
16 Apr 2006 at 06:12 - 23
Meh, still can't do it with necro (made it once with ur build!)
But I'll keep trying!
17 Apr 2006 at 06:06 - 24
I think I must have died trying this about 100 times...There are two places that I don't really know how to get past --
The first is after I lose the first lot of wurms and before the troll cave - there's a lot of pinesouls and ice golems. According to the warrior forgerunning thread, theres a safe spot on the other end of the mob, but I can't get to it without running through a lot of ice golems. What do you usually do then? Do you go straight to the next safe spot?
Once I've been able to get to the start of the area where the grawl and ice golems seem to be holding a rave party. What do you do to get past them?
17 Apr 2006 at 07:46 - 25
Avarre, you are an official planeswalker.
17 Apr 2006 at 07:53 - 26
The majority of ice golems I was able to avoid. If there is no option but to run past a few, try to aggro as few as possible. Monsters don't stack hexes, so I think they won't multi ice-spike you. If you only allow 1, maybe 2 into your aggro you can get past them quickly with hex breaker.
On the run I did, I was able to avoid all golems right up until the near end of lornars, where i used hexbreaker and IoH to run past the side, only taking 1 ice spikes (blocked by breaker).
17 Apr 2006 at 09:24 - 27
Avarre...you are such a freak. In a good way.
18 Apr 2006 at 05:05 - 28
Well, I've more or less given up on running droks for now (how many attempts did it take you? Can you make a video....), but this is absolutely great for running infusion - made it even when my guildie warrior couldn't (Though she's probably just inexperienced with it, and not letting her balanced stance recharge before rushing into the last cave).
The next time I try to run infusion though, I'll have to bring endure pain... the signets of judgment cut _really_ close - I think out of the 4 runs where I made it (1st and the 5th got killed by the azures, 4th got stuck where there was a siege attack and panicked), my health total after the cut scene were 100, 80, 60, and... 1 (I messed that last one up a little).
Anyway cool build.
18 Apr 2006 at 11:33 - 29
I used to run infusion with only:
Illu of Haste
Balanced
Distortion
Healing Signet
Illu of Weakness
Usually my IoW never even got triggered... the trick is just to sneak up to the cave itself (the group in front with the boss can be run past and you can stand between the aggroes). Then flick on balanced and make a run for it, and you're almost certain to get there alive unless you get bodyblocked, as you'd need something like 14 signet hits to kill you.
I'll think about making a video of Drok-run sometime in the future.
18 Apr 2006 at 12:39 - 30
That's exactly what I did - pretty sure there's more than 10 azure shadows in the cave - let me try again and take some screenshots
EDIT: That's odd - only saw 8 this time. Is it possible the spawn varies?
18 Apr 2006 at 13:04 - 31
Not sure on that. All I've noticed is with IoH and Balanced, I usually get through without dying, at worst my IoW gets taken down.
18 Apr 2006 at 13:29 - 32
Yeah, I'd agree on that. Went again and only saw 9, so not sure what happened the first few times.
EDIT: come to think of it -
Effective health ~ 440 + 250 ~ 700
Damage ~ 9x68 (signet of judgment) = 612, which would explain the low health. But its not like they can hurt you much more after that.
18 Apr 2006 at 20:28 - 33
Hum, I must be lucky. I did it on my first try, though I had to kill a golem that wouldn't leave me alone. Fun run

Indeed... I thought doing mesmer desert runs, 55 hp monking, order necro, 3 man uw trapping and IWAY IW mesmer was considered boring. Then again there's like a 4 million experience gap there >_<. Congratulations, I really have to try that now... **goes to cap Charge**
20 Apr 2006 at 00:57 - 35
Reading this thread made my day <3
And people said it can't be done by classes other than warrior....I laugh in their face.
Now to make a good necro forgerunner......can it be done? I must go to Avarre's level of bored mesmer with my necro >_>
Hopefully factions will give necros some running love ^_~
20 Apr 2006 at 11:35 - 36
Yep, there's a (fairly difficult) necro build on the thread 'Running to the Great Forge...' in Tyrian explorer's league that has succeeded on the run.
20 Apr 2006 at 12:19 - 37
Try with as Warrior/Monk.... I can't
Try with as Ranger/Warrior.... I can't
Try with as Mesmer/Warrior....... I did?
This is something wrong here. Maybe with practice I did it.
20 Apr 2006 at 12:25 - 38
once again, the mesmer prevails
and btw...to all female mesmers with fow...is there any die combo for neon-like colors?
20 Apr 2006 at 12:50 - 39
Blue + Red + Green made a fairly shiny pink, but as for neons, not quite sure.

Off topic about Forgerunner
From Guild Wiki
"Red + Purple makes a hot pink, even with silver added in. Red + Silver makes a rose color and is lighter than red + purple + silver + silver."
I want to test this one: Color+Dye remover+ Same Color. I did with my Necro with purple and it gives me a little more flashy Purple. I dont know if it works peferctly with FoW.
