Shiverpeak keys

Are shiverpeak keys worth it? I've been farming the southern shiverpeaks and I keep running into them. I figure the level of baddies there is high enough to warrant good chest.

I personally keep mine and hit the chests, but a lot of people sell them in Droks. Probably a better profit margin in the long run, but I like the unlocks, and some of the items are OK.

I don't find it worth it to buy them but definitely use the ones I get on a chest. I do buy the keys in the fire islands though and have had some decent items drop from them. It is always hit and miss though.

yeah.....tonight I got 3 purples all from shiverpeaks....but then again, a couple nights ago, I got 3 golds one of which had a perfect health mod...

I don't even bother with purchasing keys. Only exception would be Obsidian Keys. Anyways, whenever I get a key for Shiverpeaks, I use them if there's a nearby chest and merchant them if there isn't one in sight. I never seem to get anything but purple raven staves.

I sell my shiverpeak keys to other people

People buy them around 450.

The only keys I buy are SHiverpeak, Obsidian, Miners, Phantom and Darkstone. You still can get some very nice items from the shiverpeaks on.

Ocassionally the Desert (Elonian) has some good chests but mostly just use those if I get one dropped.

i did a chest run recently:

3 keys, and I came out with a 20% enchanting staff head and a 20% enchanting sword pommel... which was about 90k for me...

that said I've also come out with 13 req water artifacts that reduce poison duration on me....

there's a lot of luck involved.... if i find a key i'll always use it on a chest since even if you get a bad drop it's only going to be a 200 gold lost.... and there is a chance you could get a nice gold

it's just a gamble really, i think keys are fun and can get you some nice items

How do you know how much stuff is worth? Last time I had a sword pommel it said it was worth like 37gold, and i dont think that was correct.

You have to monitor the market, really. The price check forum has nice stickies about baseline mod pricing, and you can also post any weapons there too.

I've gotten 2 superior absorbtions and 1 superior vigor (back when they were 50-60k). So yeah I've come out ahead. Also I've found some pretty neat items. Never one that has 2 maxed mods, but they were decent and usuable. However, I probably spent 40-50k on keys before I started coming out ahead. Also you will get alot of useless junk. Its a risk, and the question you have to ask is "Are ya feeling lucky today...."

I buy Phantom Keys for UW (occasionally) and ToPK (far too often then is good for me ), I always have a handful of Obsidian Keys on me should I deign it worth my time to kill stuff in FoW; but for the most part, I don't buy keys for anywhere else. The only good thing I've had from a non-Phantom/Obsidian chest was when I was capping Glyph of Energy...
