Actually absorbtion runes do best on the chest because the way you get hit is : Most on chest, then next most on legs, and finally least on feet and hands. The chest therefore is the best place to recieve the damage reduction.

If that was true then you're bteer off using 5 super absorb runes.
Afaik, the rune effect is global.
I personally put it in the chest area anyway in case this gets nerfed =D

I personally put it in the chest area anyway in case this gets nerfed =D It isn't going to get nerfed. It's working as intended. Absorbtion runes and Knight's/Ascalon armor's damage reduction is GLOBAL.

I'll update this eventually with faction items, suggestions?

OK, since some issue with my login has finally been cleared up after months and a long time lurker can make his first post....
I don't understand why everyone is so big on wammos for the troll farm. A Dark Knight (W/N) can kill this group almost as fast as a 55 SoJing monk with Spiteful Spirit. Certainly in one minute less than every glad's defense build I've seen, and that's with riposte.
Here's my build:
W/N
Curses 12
Strength 10+, depends how many superior runes you like.
Axe 9 (simply to meet min req for my axe)
Tactics 9
Gear is a zealous axe, and a -2 while stanced shield, as well as one piece of knights/ascalon. The other equipment choices don't matter a whole lot.
1. Dolyak Signet
2. "Watch Yourself!"
3. Cyclone Axe
4. Bonetti's Defense
5. Healing Signet
6. {E} Spiteful Spirit
7. Disciplined Stance
8. Shield Stance
That's right... no sprint, it isn't needed to get past 99% of the spawns. It does slow you down slightly getting there, but the kill speed on the trolls and the extra protection from disrupting chop is worth it. Just keep running past the avicara patrols, they will chip your life away as they give chase but you can always lose them by the time you get deep into the cave. You can afford to start the troll fight with less than 100% HP as well.
Anyway, here's the drill:
1) Wake up however many trolls you feel you can handle.
2) Press C to target the closest one, cast Spiteful on it.
3) TAB to switch to next target, then SPACE to start attacking it.
4) Activate Disciplined Stance and Dolyak Signet when a fair number get in melee range
5) Once you get 5 mana from the zealous axe, do a cyclone.
6) Wait until Disciplined Stance wears off. You can use healing sig in the meantime if you need.
7) Activate Bonettis, TAB to switch target, cast Spiteful again.
8) Then throw watch yourself, cyclone axe, and bonettis in quick succession. You can usually hit the key for bonettis a bit before cyclone axe finishes, to account for server lag.
8) TAB to switch target, so you aren't hitting the guy you just SS'd, and SPACE to attack. Use healing signet as needed.
9) Repeat 8, and then follow it with a TAB to switch targets and spiteful again.
10) Shield stance and cylone/heal sig as you like, the trolls will all die soon.
Trolls will generally kill themselves after 3 casts of spiteful spirit. The target switching is important so you don't kill the cursed trolls too early, then they can continue to damage their nearby comrades. Shield Stance is your "emergency" card, it doesent happen often but if a troll manages to disrupting chop healing signet or cyclone axe, you can be in trouble, or if you get a spawn with too many trolls. Shield stance lasts long enough for disrupting chop's effect to wear off, plus the trolls are generally dead from SS by that time anyway. Your main damage here is from SS, not cyclone axe. As such, its important to throw healing sigs while waiting on SS to recharge rather than cyclone spam, since trolls will waste disrupting chops trying to hit through your bonettis.
This build does take a little more skill to play than your Wammo farm build, but its not that difficult, and vastly more efficient. Works on any very large groups of melee enemies, for example minotaurs in Elona's. I also used to use this just as easily on the griffons before they were nerfed, there are still Dark Knight builds that can take griffons but a riposte-based build is more efficent there since you can't herd them into such large groups anymore.

Interuption chances are REALLY low. 75% chance to miss hitting you ALL the time.
A boost from doylak!?!?! I did it with a FOCUS ITEM on my warrior fine, health not dipping at all.
The safety of this build is great, the w/mo riposte thingy is too complicated: I tryed it, it didn't work so well.
Gforce
I personally use sup str, sup tactics and sup axe, then got attributes like: 16 axe, 8 healing, 10 str and tactics, guess it would work better with higher tactics (I 55 them nowadays) and then skills like: cyclone, dolyak sig, gladz defense, bonettis defense, vig spirit, balth spirit, life vicar, sprint
probably somewhat to defensive, but with 296hp its needed... =0

I got a max fellbalde 15^50 +29 HP from trolls just before Factions came out. Also built a pefect Vampiric Axe +30 HP from the parts trolls dropped. Trolls are great for skill points though. If you shell out 800 to 1k for Berserker's Insight, every two runs you can gain a skill point.

Is it better to open the chests or just sell the keys for 300g?
Melissa Is HOT
Sell the keys to other people for 400g...
Xaero Gouki Kriegor
sell all those keys, if you wanna open chests, open chests in uw or fow or maybe hell's precipe. it might be me but ive always gotten crappy drops from chests outside of uw/fow/ or hell's precipe
Oh No Not This Guy
in my time farming here, i've accumulated over 400k from here.. 200k of those were from 20/20 sundering sword hilts, and a bit more from a max dam icy great axe, 15^50 and armor +7, but the drops arent too bad at all. 1 in 5 runs should produce a gold, and generally speaking, they're pretty good golds at that.. anyone wanting quick cash and the excitement of finding great loot should be doing this hehe ^^
Gigamaster89
I will buy all keys 400g per

Farm trolls to clear farm code when we dont have favor!! Then when we do have favor go farm spider caves in fow for shards and good gold drops. Noob proof builds means whammos join groups cast enchants runs off gets shattered, dies cusses monk for not running leeroy with him. Give em skill builds make em learn to play and help us all out in groups later on.

Well not really to an extent. I farm it, but I also farm the whole area. Skipping big groups of Avicara and most of the north.
I take out trolls and Krogg (Ranger guy is possible but takes to long) all the Tundra Giants..besides from the ones mixed in with the Avicara. Then I move on to the Avicara scattered around the middle area. I try to take on only 3 at a time. Usually 2 Brave and a Wise or Fierce. Biggest group I can get is 2 Guile, 3 Brave and a Fierce. Then I move on to the Grawl and Grawl bosses to the northeast. I can take out every boss except the monk and ele. Monk is possible but it's to much work.
Anyways the build I run is:
Glads Defense (key skill)
Bonetti's Defense (key skill)
Sever Artery
Gash
Galrath Slash
Distracting Blow/Savage Slash (nerfed now, I don't use it) or Sprint.anything can go here really.
Dolyak Signet (key skill)
Healing Sig (key skill)
My stats are:
14 Strength
11 Swordsmanship
14 Tactics
I also have full glads with an Ascalon helm. Sup Vigor, Abs, Tactics, minor swords and str I think.
This isn't just a troll build, that's to boring I find clearing what I can much more rewarding. 3k minimum a time. 15k xp minimum.. I think I've gotten up to 30k, get even more with scrolls. Takes about 1-3 hours though depending on groups..and everything. I have a lot of fun with it.

I found a pretty good raven staff the other day.
I posted it in the price check and people quoted me 50 - 75k
I have also had about 4 silver dye, 2 shiverpeak keys,a gold hammer with perfect furious upgrade, a LOT of precious blue raven staffs and random bows and swords and thats about all i can remember. All this from about a week of doing this run. I would say about 30-40 times in total. I have made about 15-20k not including the gold raven staff i have up for auction right now. I also have about 130 mountain troll tusks which I am going to get rid of when they reach 250.
Here is a link to the auction for the gold raven staff

switch out defensive for balths spirit if you got energy managment problems...i use it and never run out of energy..just aggro the whole cave to krogg and massacre them..usually takes around 2.5 min to clear the cave..

I read a few posts and some people seem to think this won't work or is outdated, well it's not. I've used this build and ONLY this build for the longest time. The only times that I have ever died, were when I was interupted :|
I don't even use the gladiator armor, as I was foolish and bought the full 15k Dragons set :|.
I've had GREAT success from this build. I've farmed 2 black dyes just in the last 2 days. And I usually only make 5 or 6 runs a day.
And for you asking the anti-farm code question. It is believed that the more often you farm the same spot over and over, the lesser the drops you get. I believe this was confirmed by Gaile, or whatever her name is. If it seems this is happening, just stop farming there, do some quests, get off of GW, something else for awhile. This doesn't affect the spawns and experience though. So you can still powerlevel as long as you want.

All I can say is that I love the OP, your build is excellent. I have had guild wars for a year and I never farmed by gathering up monsters and killing them..I did it the old fashion way, 1 by 1 monster. After coming back from a years break I tried W/N farming trolls and I was horrible at it since this is my first time farming like this. But when I saw your farming method it was very well put together and ive made 8 plat bars in the past hour. This might not be alot for some of those people that play 24/7 with the best gear but its good in my book.
To all the haters, the build doesn't suck and im sure you know better spots to get a better profit out of it but for newbies like me I love farming trolls.
