Hi guys,
I'm collecting stuff for my FoW armor for about a month and I got 21 ectos in my storage. I heard that the price of ecto will go down in Factions and... I dont know what to do with those 21 pieces

Many gamers say that the price will go down. I'm thinking, can the price raise? Ecto after the release of Prpophecies cost 20k a piece... I really don't know what to do with this stuff... Maybe I should sell a couple of pieces and leave the rest? Or maybe just sell all of them?

New armor with new materials will probably lower the ecto/shard price more..but who knows, everyone could be thinking that and price might go up...

well. nobody knows if the new "fow" amor will look as great as current fow armor.

I think they will go down if new fow armor looks pretty much better than current fow armor.

Think about that you won't be able to farm the new materials cause gaile said new underworlds will be much harder to play than our fow/uw.

That's why the new materials will be at ~20k each piece longer time. Even if you got 1 mio gold, you won't be able to purchase the new fow armor quick.

For this reason people will stay at getting old fow armor first imho.

Conclusion: Ectos prices will drop slightley cause people need money for new 15k armors. But ectos won't be worthless cause the new fow armor will be too hard to get.

Now, what if Factions keeps the ecto/shard use o.o

Demand will skyrocket.

I highly doubt they would apply the same system for the new 'uber' armors.

Gucio, if you really want FoW armor, I'd suggest keeping your Globs of Ectoplasm and saving up money to splurge on the projected 'cheap ectos'.

This is quite confusing cause the Frog said that rubies and sapphires will be used for crafting jewelery... or sth like that

I think that the new fow armor will require amber and jade to craft... it's connected with the new factions system... I wonder: is it possible that ANet adds rubies and sapphires to the crafting of the normal FoW armor? I mean, like u have to buy rubies, sapphires, ectos and shards for crafting the armor?

Obviously the prices will drop down...

Yup, everyone that plays the game "normally" will begin to accumulate Jade and Amber via quests and missions. I can't see the prices being any higher than something like Deldgimor Steel (or similar rare material). I've seen people buying them already for multiple "K" each and don't understand why.

If jade and amber do become the new materials for the high end armor, then that means more people will be able to buy and enjoy it. Unless of course, you need hundreds of them to craft the armor. But, we'll see what happens.

That would make more sense. Its quite likely theres more materials yet to be released for the new armour.

Jade/Amber is way too easy to get hold of to make equivilant FoW armour. They'll probably be the 15k sets i think.

Atm i'm not buying any Shards/Ectos (never have), i'm just using the 1s i find myself to get my FoW mesmer armour (i think, still haven't decided

) so whatever happens to the price of them after Factions i haven't lost anything technically.

im just going to keep my ectos and shrads...
and iwould like to have something like a 2nd skin for fow.. only then with canthan style but still the ectos and shards. couse else it would be very shit for poepl who jsut bought fow or have a huge colection of ectos etc...

and also i would like a cheaper nice armor.. now yu have:

3rd class drok
2nd class 15k
1st class fow

there should also be an mid mode.. like 1.2M is to much for alto of gw players and it also will take alot of time to fin ectos and shards and the money o buy them.

maybe an armor that 75k a piece? 5×75k= 375k... sound like a nice price for armor

Eh, I don't know about that. 15k is high enough for casual players, and if you're hard core, what's the real difference between 375k and the million gold (approx) it costs for FoW? BTW, isn't FoW armor 15k a piece anyway? It's just the shards and ectos that raise the price, right? If those drop in price, the price of FoW will drop significantly.

What people "think" and the reality are very different. With Sorrows Furnance there was talk of Furnance armor and sapphires/rubies sold well. I wont stock up on materials for armor unless I know for sure what items are needed.

jade/amber is the BASIC material for the equivalent of DROK armor.

they show us a few basic areas and people think they have seen it all.

how many people made it to even the exclusive 15k armor crafter to see what materials he wanted?

how many made it to the equivalent of the fissure crafter and saw his materials wants?

Quite a few people, actually. There a few threads on this board where they've posted screenshots of their characters in the new 15k armor.

Yes, but that's not for sure what the final reqs are.

I think it would be super slick of Anet to build all this false demand for Vials of Ink and such, and then have it super common in factions...

Don't forget a lot of people are not going to buy Factions inmediately. If the ecto price goes down its an opportunity for them to finally get FOW armor - and their demand will rise the prices again. I think the ecto price won't change much during the first 4-5 months. After that it's likely to drop.

It would be stupid to introduce a new Ecto/Shard equivalent in factions, because 4 chapters down the road the material trader would be flooded with all sorts of crap ecto type 1, ecto type 2, ecto type 3, shard type 1, etc etc. They had better keep the ecto/shard system and I see no reason why they can't.

Uhhh... you do realize how much material crap they have right now?

Why would you think that would change? More chapters = more crap.

Because there is no "ecto/shard" system in the game, one one fabricated by the players. If Factions high-end armor requires something different and equally hard to get, so be it. Prophecies is a unique game from Factions and shouldn't be expected to be the driving force behind Factions economy.

[Edit]Maybe this is where the fabled "Small Turtle shells" come into play...

I saw someone said that Rt and Asn's fow armor will be added in fow, right?
If this is true, I think the ecto's price will not drop..
Since some people may want to craft Rt or Asn's fow armor, they need more ectos and shards,
however, no many people will go uw and fow when faction come out
Everyone want to play new mission, new pvp, and farming for new weapons/items.

It represents that ecto supply will < demands
So, I think ecto price will raise up,not drop.

those pics of 15k armor is only 1 set of each 15k armor, i'm sure factions will have there own FoW type armor where you find the crafter outside of town, or maybe just a different look compared to all the other ones.

Yeah, in the elite missions that no one will be able to access save for the very top alliances.

I think I said that...either that or I was thinking it. Pure speculation anyways, seeing as that I haven't done any (p)research into chapter 2...

It seems completely reasonable, even expected that prophesies armor will be added for the assassin and ritualist, including FoW armor. Who knows? If FoW assassin armor has a wicked skin, people might very well regret having dumped thier ectos a month ago.

Turtle Shells are propably one of the rare materials needed for Factions 'FoW'

It was said in one of the recent interviews.
