I thought someone besides Prima was doing the GW:F Guide

I don't know if anyone's seen the listing for the Guild Wars: Factions guide at Amazon, but wasn't it said that after they botched the first one that A.net was looking at getting someone different to do it, or do it themselves?

Hopefully, if it's to be Prima, they'll have a little more A.net supervision. :S

I'm almost certain Gaile said they were writing this one themselves. Prima is probably just the publisher.

Prima is a publisher. But personally, guides for MMO aren't the best considering a that updates take place often. Once they remove an item or something that peice of data becomes invalid in the guide. Personally it's best sticking to resources like guildwiki which update regularly.

Edit: Heck knows how many questions this forum gets because of something being mentioned in the prima guide that has been changed.

Man, I hope so. FIRST ONE SUCKED! I want pure coverage that I can actually use and not a bathroom read.

Yes, Gaile mentioned a month or two back about Anet writing the guide themselves.

Of course it would've been nice if Prima would've stepped up to the plate and offered the online (corrected) version free to those that bought the botched up paper version. Legally they're not binding, and as most of us know with these guys there's no such thing as responisibility anymore.

Some content has of course changed, but the paper version as most people will know was botched from release.

The only thing the prima guide was good for was the maps. After all the update changes and skill changes none of that part of the book can be used.

I only use my GW game guide to see the exact locale of collectors and what items they want. And for bonus parts for some missions, other than that, yeah the guides are virtually useless since it all changes.

Fixed. A physically published guide makes no sense for an online game, let alone one that prides itself on having a dynamic skill environment.

Also, the amount of misinformation the first guide spread is legendary.

I believe someone is making a guide for WoW that can be updated with new downloads as information changes.

Makes sense for Anet to offer the same thing.

The first guide wasn't screwed up persay. This game updates constantly and things constantly change. It wasn't even a month before the original guide for GW:P was out of date. Still the big poster map was insanely handy. Honestly the best"Guides" for these type of games are the fansite forums. They are more or less constantly up to date.
