Another way to Droknar?

While everyone else can flame me for not using search or what ever maybe someone can just answer my question and we'll be done with it. I have tried to hike there countless times and have not even made it half way without being horribly slaughtered down to -45% moral. I'm lv18 E/Mo with other equally unfortunate lv17-20 people trying to get there as well. The Obvious thing is fight everything you come across so when you die, they are not there to hinder your run back to where you left off... but thats a lot easier said then done. Now I sure don't have the money to buy this armor everyone is talking about but I'd really like to get there to see what I need exactly.

So my question is since some people say yes and others say no... Is there ANY mission you can do that takes you there? Or is the only way there through insane battling, many deaths leading ultimatly to destruction of your computer? I envy those who talk of tales of overlooking the place from the hillside after hours of battling. Oh the lucky bastards lol...

Ascend or pay a runner. If it is your first char then I would advise the ascension route. If you want to know what you need for armor do a google search for it. There are several armor crafting guides out there. No need to find Droknars to find what you need to craft the armor.

Its my first character. So how does Ascension get me there?

And I am to cautious to try a runner. Lost 500 gold to a scammer when I talked her down from 1500 to run me there. To bad the other 4 in the group didn't think to haggle the price...

Awsome, thankyou. Of course I bet Ascending would be easier with armor from Draknor already?

No.

The ascention will make your character lv20, most people will be around that level when doing the ascention trials and the armor we get in the desert collectors is exactly the same as we get in the Droknar Forge stats wise.

It gives a static exp bonus and unless your close to 20 you might not make it.

I think it is 50,000 xp now, and if you want to know anything about ascention then find every Elonas Reach and Thirsty River thread. heh

Of course you're not wrong in assuming that it can be done Mavrik. It is quite possible to fight your way through the whole frenzy.
However with that said, i myself have never done it that way. However me and a couple of friends did manage to fight our way back from Droknars to Beacons as you can have eight people rather than six.

One last note, it would be rude to say that your abilities are hindered because you are only level 18. However you'll find that once you get the cheaper collectors armor and get the extra attribute points from the quests in the dseert, life will be much easier on lornars pass.

Good luck

First Post btw, Hi everyone

I got into Droknar's Forge today with the normal route (and this is still my first character). I checked out the hyped armor, and to my amazement, the stats are practically the same as the collector (warrior) armor from the desert. The Droknar armor looks finer, though.. perhaps that's the main reason to get it

wow, old post from the past for me heh.

Safe to say I made it to Droknar and... still have not ascended. I even have 15k geomancer for looks and its infused as well as the set of mixed armor I bought at Droknar. I got run obviously and wow it is quite a rush to see done. My guild mate who has a runner (someone else ran me before) ran my ranger there from piken square... Now that was awsome to watch. I'm lv20 with my E/Mo but my R/Me is only lv 9... I was successful in running most of the way without dying... We stopped in at yaks then on to beacon. The run from there was tough but my ranger has that cool dodge skill that increases her speed for 5 seconds. Used that to get past some of those larger groups... now to get her some grotto armor hehe... nah, I'm broke after buying that for my E/Mo

Eh.. no I played the game myself with a few quick hops to get some better armor for my character to help me PvE earlier on. So don't worry I won't be showing up in PvP kicking your butt cause I don't PvP. And I bought the game to play it how I want to, not how you want me to. Being my ranger is my second character, I've seen everything all the way to ascention missions anyway, so "getting run" is not costing me any lost value of my game.

i think running to droks is bad. Why do you go there? For the armor? you dont need droks armor to beat the ascend. and i dont even think it makes the process easier. if you already have beaten the game then getting a run to droks is fine. you already earned it. If you ask me getting a run to droks without getting there by missions on your first character is really noob. i dont mean to flame you mavrik but, it really pisses me off to see lvl 8's in droks buying armor that they dont need. thats not the worst part.....its when they start asking all kinds of questions because they dont know what is going on or they start looking for a group in the team arena.

Keep them in your bag just so when one day everyone wears a fissure armor, you can still stand out with your collector armor. And same for desert collector weapons too, they are just as good as those found in Southern Shiverpeaks.

collectors armor in the southern shiverpeaks is 80+20, its harder and takes longer to get to then other armor collectors but still cheaper then buying armor, i also have no idea where all of them are but they are there, and on a side note i stumbled upon a scroll crafter (not a scroll merchant) not knowing that they existed

i got to droks on my own my first time there on my W/Mo and saw some guy giving a free run from piken while on my E/Me11, couldnt pass up a free run

- Ascend

And number 3

-Win LA arena 10 times and walk out of team arena.. wells its free

If Anet did not want us to walk from one end of the map, or run... they should not have connected all the areas. Nuff said. I've never asked noob questions in Droknar for the simple fact I do have a high enough IQ to know that obviously I'm a few missions ahead. Also FYI there are no quests available for anyone who does not ascend to get there. I've seen people getting experience and skill points talking to various NPC who do not have any green ! over their head to alert me of a quest. I'm there for the armor 70 for my lv 9 ranger so charr back in ascalon will have just a little tougher time trying to kill me. Plus it saves me buying armor along the way to only have it useless when I get there. We all play the game differently, but we play it how we want to.

When I ascended I don't recall being dropped off at Droknar. I fought my way there by picking up 7 (or was it 5?) henchies and fighting tooth and nail for every inch on that map.

Edit: Oops, sorry, I was thinking of the Citadel

Hoestly, the Droknar's run is the only run I don't disagree with out of hand.

I had my second character run to Droknar's Forge purely out of interest. I wanted to know why everyone was so excited about having been there.

I am not lazy, not at all, in fact, I ran my W/Mo from Piken Square, through Yak's Bend and straight on to Kryta and Lion's Arch. When I reached there, people were talking about Droknar's Forge as if it were some sort of Mount Olympus, so I went back to Beacon's Perch and got a runner.

I managed to reach lvl14 without doing the missions this way. I am now doing the missions though, as I need iron ingots for armours.

These are just the musings of a sad, sad toe so feel free to flame them if you wish.

For elementalists, crafters at Citadel only craft Pyromancer and Hydromancer 15k armor. If you want Geomancer or Aeromancer armor, you need to go to Grotto. I did not know this so I traveled (was not run) from forge to Citadel and found out what I wanted was not there. So then I went and got infused and hiked to Grotto... I have no idea about collectors but I did not want collector style armor... I wanted the redesigned armor.
