My friend has recently been given a laptop, only to his dismay to find that it's got a massive 5GB HD. Split in two.
So, we were wondering if Guild Wars would operate fully if it was installed on an External HD, whilst the OS remained on the basic stuff in the laptop?
Any help appreciated Need to stop him hogging others computers!
Edit: I should learn to use the search feature However, I'll add to this as this one question doesn't seem to be answered properly (that I can find)
If I were to install Gw on an external HD, would I need to manually place the registry file on the HD with the OS?
Plus, can I do this with all my games?

Firtly if hes just got the laptop, remove the partitions.
Secondly there should be no reason why GW should not run out of an external HDD, however it will be slower and be more prone to lag, your External HDD is going to be using firewire / USB 2.0 at its best and they arnt fast compared to the computers ability to process something o its own HDD, but it should, in thoery work.

Why don't you just buy a 40 gig Laptop hard drive....

Whats the laptop spec, If it has a 5gig hard drive then it may be old, and might not be up to spec for running guild wars.

Because then he (my friend) would have to buy Windows OS.
