Wealth?
starterz
Hello friends, this is my first post. I have a simple question, how do a lot of players earn so much gold? I have seen auctions here that yield 60k gold, and that sum seems like a lifetime away for me to earn while playing. I have been playing for a couple od weeks now, doing missions in Yak's Bend right now, and I am level 13 as from yesterday. Still, I have managed to earn 3-4k gold up untill now, and I really cannot imagine I will be able to spend 60000 gold on a sword anytime soon. Can you direct me somehow, I think I might be missing something within the game. Thanks all.

The fact is that you don't really need that amount of money until you get to level 20 anyway. I made it to 20 on the equipment I could afford from simply completing quests. Once there I started farming some and got what I wanted.

You really dont have to run people or do missions if you dont want to. I just adventure with my wife and friends in places that I like to go to. I have gotten quite a few good things, including a +30hp Axe Grip which I just sold for 76p. So just go out there and and fun doing what you like and wealth will probably come in time.

First character through the game gold is always tight. It's a struggle just getting armor upgrades. Later in the game the drops get better and you will be making more gold just doing missions.
Having said that, most wealthy players are farmers, runners or do the buy low sell high thing (opportunists). That's for later in the game. Right now just learn your profession and enjoy the game. Maybe join a friendly guild to help and point you in the right direction.

No one's rich by the time they get to Yaks Bend on their first character. As you advance in the game, the drops get better & better. Here's a couple of tips:
1. Save stone summit badges.
2. Collector's armor & weapons only cost a bit of time farming the collector's items. guildwiki.org has tons of info on where collectors are & other stuff.
3. Selling crafting materials to other players will be more profitable than selling it to the merchant.

Also the economy has been on a down slide as of late. It`s harder to "get rich quick" as the rich got rich early and have what they need as far as upgrades and such. I personally quit having armor crafted after Yaks till I reached Droknars. You can find collectors that will give you armour for dropped items so I farmed what I need of those items and went on. As people have said you really don`t need that much till level 20 and once you get there you can get weapons from collectors that will get you through farming till you want to buy a nice weapon. I find that when I have gold I tend to screw it off buying crap that I don`t really need. I`ve had 1.5k Glad armour, bought 15k Dragon, then 15k Glad and salvaged out the Dragon, now have bought some Wyvern pieces for special farming. Not to mention going from sword to axe to sword to axe to sword. I kept my axes from the last switch and am going sword/axe depending on what I do. Alot of people used to chest run before keys were added. I knew of a place that had a chest and a barrel and come farm about 1k in 15minutes which wasn`t much but it was out of Druid`s overlook and I was low level at the time. Also once you get into the S. Shiverpeaks just about everything drops 100 gold so it adds up quickly.

And don't spend all of your money on skills at this point. There are a few that you can't get through quests that are worthwhile to have, but there are many that aren't worth having.

Put it this way, by the time i reached Droknars (the best armour in the game in terms of Armour level) i had plenty of money.
Did i buy the armour? No, thats how incredibly cheap i am, i figured i'd wait for the best armour to come (there isn't 1...) so carried on doing the game with shoddy armour, then eventually came back and bought bits.
The secret, don't buy anything other than armour, i've hoarded a nice 1.3mil in gold now and that comes from selling green items, i've only ever sold 1 single gold item to a real person. Everything else i get goes to the merchant, believe me, your best off selling things to them than standing in town spending longer selling it to real people. Which is why my necro is holding 4000 wood, i can't be bothered to sell it to people or the merchant :S

If the search function is not working, then go to the Warrior build forum and looking for threads on farming/running with a warrior. Warriors are one of the best money makers in the game.

youre not gonna make TONS of money like this, but its an easy and fast way:
Salvage all the white weapons you find, alot of them will turn into wood
Take the wood to the trader outside Sardelak Sanitarium and exchange for parchment (1 parchment=5 wood + 20g)
Take the parchment to Droks or Ascalon and sell for 90g EACH.
you get 20g profit for EACH piece of parchment.
if you still didnt beat the game and dont have acces to High-End farming spots this is the easiest way to make money. gonna take a while to make 60k like this, but in a few days of farming for whites salvaging and selling you can do at least 10k.... because those who buy parchment buy in BIG quantitys. Slow method, not VERY fun, but if youre lower then lvl 15.... not too much choise there...
* i didnt know about this before and all i was doin were ONLY missions, never farming, so i saw my first 10k after i got to fire islands and found a sup monk rune...

as a low level its very hard to get gold mainly because you are hunting low level - low gold yeilding baddies, morevoer your probabley splitting the gold among a party of 4-6. I remember when i first got to the desert (around lvl 16) i was hunting griffons with 5 other hench men trying to get up gold for my guild hall...sheesh that took a while. After i first completed the game i had about 5k in my storage, as someone has said, i only bought armor.
However reguarding low level's i have to disagree with Evilsod. I think it would be faster selling a gold weapon for 1k then farming it with 5 hench men. IMO
but my point is you dont need 60k weapons to beat the game. However after you have beat it 3 times (and if you dont like PvP) there isnt much more to do then farm and buy sexy items for outragous prices

play through the game and do all the missions first. as you go through you should be able to make gold form selling stuff to merchant. once you complete the game and understand it then worry about gaining wealth.
dont worry it will come to you eventually. i was in your position once and now i have tons of perfect weapons, fow armor and other expensive stuff.

Well, there`s collectors armour out of Druids Overlook, Henge of Denravi and Crystal Desert so I don`t see any reason to buy armour after Yaks.

Some people take it too far though ... had the misfortune of having a warrior with Yaks armor in ring of fire. He was "saving his money for FOW armor" gimping pugs because you are cheap is rude at best.

One of the best ways to make a quick buck right now is in crafting materials. I should clarify actually. it's not quick. you have to amass some bulk in these materials before they get to be worth anything however the profit margin is nice. A lot of these materials can be gathered by simply salvaging all the junk whites you get throughout the game and some of the more pointless collector items.

Well yeah but don't spread it around too much or profit margins will fall on that. AS it stands now you gain about 60% after tallying in the cost of the salvage kits and crafting.

i recently got to a respectable amount of gold, and the only advice i can give is save money for droks armor, i spent tons of gold on my first character buying new armor at every outpost. eventually you'll get up there, the trick is you just have to keep on playing(and make some wise choices

Are you actually gonna search for all the collectors??? I haven't got a damn clue where they are, at least Desert Collectors are reasonably easy to find/reach.

To answer the original poster's question:
Farming (using a character with farming capabilities, of course)
Providing service (running to places, missions, etc)
Trading (aka buy-low-sell-high)
Getting lucky with drops (often when farming)
JBak
To original poster:
I know a guy who has over 10 mil, now that's rich but there are even richer people. There are 2 ways to get rich:
1) Join the best PvP guilds, and farm HoH. Hundreds of HoH wins later you will be a millionaire.
2) Beat the game and find a good farming guild/group. Farm SF/FoW with them every day, over and over and over. In a few months you'll have all the money you want.
Note, it is now harder to make lots of money than it was in the past, both in PvE and PvP. Because prices dropped both for green and rare items, and sigils. But it's still the only real way to get money.
There are two more ways to get money:
3) Do forge runs, elona, thirsty river, sanctum, etc. Again, so much competition nowadays that it's hardly worth it. Good for quick coin tho.
4) Buy low sell high. Spend all your time in auctions and LA/Ascalon/Forge D1 looking for deals and spamming the items you're selling. Gotto know the prices of course. And it's boring, unless you can enjoy the process.
Best of luck.

There really isn't a way to "get rich quick" other than getting lucky.
If you get a Gold req 8 15% while over 50% Sundering Crystalline Sword of Fortitude + 30, there you go, you're rich quick.
Otherwise, warriors make a lot of money fast. Running missions, Droknar's Forge, and southern shiverpeaks can make you 10-20k in one hour, if you're good at it. Warriors can also farm Sorrow's Furnace, and Fissure of Woe.
But yeah.
Good luck with that Crystalline Sword... X D

I've been playing this game for 6 months now and i only realized recently how to gain gold quicker than farming.
For 6 months, the most gold i have in 1 time was below 15k.
I happened accidentally when i was in Warcamp and I saw someone selling green item for 1k. I have 9k that time, so i bought the item. It happened to be a Stinger. Then I went to Ascalon and saw someone "WTB Max Bow" so I showed him the stinger. He asked me how much i want to sell the bow and i said 3k. He gave me 5k for it.
Today (only after 3 weeks), i have weapons for my 4 characters that worth a total of 200-300k (not bad because i only discovered it recently).
Now, you can also do this in Ascalon because i see people sell green items for low/cheap price. Just be patient and sooner or later, you are already richer than me.
I suggest that you visit Ventari's section and read the PC on Green Items so you can know how much item can be bought/sold.
Be sure to buy cheap and sell a little higher. Earning 1-2k per item isn't a bad business if you can do that in less than 30 minutes.

Another thing I see a lot of new players neglect to do is pick up their drops in missions. Honestly, that's a great source of income at all levels. Armor/Weapon drops when identified are always worth around 60-100 gold at high levels. If you only ever pick up gold you're missing out. This is especially true when traveling in a party since the gold is divided among the members.
Even now when I'm doing runs in UW2/SF I'll pick up stuff. Just to ID it and sell it.
I guess my mantra is not to be wasteful.

you get money by either these few points:
1: Trading.
2: Farming
3: Scamming
i prefer that u only try out point 1 and 2.
trading: buy for low, sell for high. u can end up making millions a day (buying something for 50k, selling for 200k = 150k profit).. trading = when u have the money, u can make more money! so try point.2 first
farming.. find a farm spot (ember light camp spider farming for warriors, easy as hell if u dont heal and kee ur health below 50%, easy 3-4k per run of 5 minutes + 4-5 golds per 10 runs) or try Tombs, SF for greens, or make a 55hp monk, farm UW, make a W/Me and solo FoW.. something like that
point3: scamming. if i ever spot u try this ur nuts are mine
money making = easy
u just have to know the secrets about it
edit: i give moneymaking lessons INGAME for 50k. :P

Most popular is farming it. Unfortunately, to farm well you need good gear. So, try running people, which still makes me better money than any farming run, which gets me minorly depressed. Of course, there's always buy low sell high, but if you ever become one of those *&[email protected] koreans who won't sell me a %$@*ing 5:! vamp string for less than 100k I will personally come to your house and glare at you.
Really, the best ways generally involve finding novel ways to seperate players with poor budgeting skills from their money.

Thanks all. I think that gameplaying is much more clear to me now. I will continue to do missions & quests, advance my character, and earn what I can while doing it. I will try to enjoy the game the most, and not concern myself with getting the most expensive items
Thanks again and stay well.

It can be quite profitable, when Ragos items where in full swing i bought the Wand, then sold it 10seconds later for a 15k profit.
Scamming will only make you end up worse off. Either your account gets banned or i scam you for a laugh. Was quite amusing doing the least stealthy of scams ever to Suso Tawngs in Warcamp after the 2nd month of listening to people whining. Can't beat a collectors fire wand dyed green for 50k *cough* i mean Ragos Wand. Oh well, the war camp found it funny

I can't understand why some people leave so much in FoW/UW. If you go back after everyones gone you can find usually about 3k of items left on the ground. I ended up with 2k worth of Dark Remains once.
