They can be encountered in Factions (at least during the FPE anyways) during a Kurzick quest...The deadly bird or something like that. It's level 20 and, happily for rangers, tamable.

Yah, it's the "deadly" Black Moa from the horribly annoying Black Moa quest on the Kurzick side. The quest itself forces you to rezone through several maps, and because it's in the Kurzick's forest, you have to kill everything in your path; without Charge + Balanced Stance, it's nearly impossible to run through all those darn Spike Traps the Kurzick mobs spam all over the tight forest corridors.

Bah! I just spent so much time getting my Warriors Moa to lvl 20! Now there is an even more pwn moa available? My moa is dire though, because i'm leet like that...think the Black Moa might random spawn as a dire moa?

I don't know. The Black Moa came as just that in the FPE, as in it had no prefix at all. I guess people will have to start catching Black Moas and testing them for their evolution to learn which it is and if it can come as different ones. If the size is an indication, however, I would put it as an Elder evolution. If it did turn out to be just Elder, then the lack of a prefix would be oddly fitting.

Oh, and the quest was called "Beak of Darkness."

Oh noze! teh beak of darkness! O.o you Kurzicks have some silly quests... I wonder if you could sneak in there as a Luxon with a kurzick guy that has the quest and capture it.

You could still do the quest as a Luxon, the merchants there would just refuse to serve you (Nooooo!)

"You Kurzicks" lol I'm for Luxon! I just did that quest so I could steal their precious Moa! Mwahahaha! You don't even have to accept the quest reward, and I did it with all henchies.

It's just a Moa that got Immolated one too many times to where he's burned to a crisp...

Off-topic: If you're ever bored and want something slightly amusing to try, put Immolate on your skillbar and walk around Ascalon explorable areas burning poor helpless Moa birds. It's fun.

Shorten it further: Emoa.

I didn't know it was charmable, and my henches descended on it like a pack of wolves.

Not my screenshot, but they are tameable.

Whoa... either that's one tiny player character, or the Emoas do come in different evolutions. lol The one I capped wasn't nearly so huge in comparison to a player character... but like I said, if that player chose the smallest available size, it could all even out.
