Markis not appearing in Iron Mines?

I have just done Iron Mines three times in a row.

I run too the seer the normal way, get the spectral essence, get infused then go to kill Markis

But he isn't there. I took screenys on two of these occasions, any idea what the problem is? Also how do I fix this.

Sometimes he gets stuck on the path. If you've come from the infusion run to the end spot, go back along the normal path until you see him. If he's far enough back you can just do the bonus while you're there too. It's quite easy to kill the judge when you've already killed everything else off. Since you've got screenies of it. Report this to support so they'll fix it.

This has happened to me twice, both times our teamleader had allready done the mission. That gave me the impression that if the teamleader allready has killed Markis, he won´t appear the next time that person does the mission, if he is the teamleader again.

But I might be wrong

Maybe you have already noticed that Markis is in the spot just right after you start the mission. Probably, he is supervising the battle between the White Mantle and the Dwarves because as soon as the battle ends, he will cross the bridge and walk to his "spot" (with 4 jades watching at the back).

The "bug" happens when you run to the seer and he sometimes get stucked between his spot and in the location where you do the bonus.

I've done it with one group when Markis didn't appear in his "spot" we walk to the bonus area (and eventually did the bonus, too). If you walk a little further, you will see Markis there.

Maybe you can do mission right after the battle area if your armor is already infused. There are only few jades and mursatt guarding the area and a few low level white mantles.

but you should be quick enough coz Markis will start moving as soon as the battle ends.

yeah i dont think its a bug. Markis starts to the left of where the mission start point is. running to infusion then going to finish the mission doesnt always give Markis enough time to get to his normal spot. fight your way to infusion instead of running and he will be in his normal spot every time.

Good question.... as said earlier though i guess he was 'over-seeing' something.

This can be quite an irritating bug using henchman because they're STILL not infused properly! Or at least they never seem to be for me.

I had this bug once... I call it a bug because I cleared the entire map with my guildies on that moment. Every living thing was killed on my path and no Markis was present.

Maybe I overlooked something, but when i reach the Markis position and after that return the entire mission map he should have reached his final position and when I returned he wasnt there.

I also had once that I killed the Markis, but the 2 remaining jades did not appear, you wont finish the mission either in that case...

My advice: do the mission again... its easy with henchies

I actually submitted a bug against this with Guild Wars support a few months back because I was so annoyed by it. Ultimately this is the response I got after a long discourse with a very nice support person:


It is by design that the last two Jade Armors do not come out until Markis is killed. This is to allow for Signets of Capture to be used on Markis. If you have not found and killed Markis, then the mission will not end. Markis starts a run near the beginning of the mission and follows a path to the end area. It is a known issue that sometimes Markis will not finish his run for players that take the infusion run. If that happens, you must back track along Markis' route, find him and then kill him. After that, return to the Jade Armors, kill them and the mission should complete normally.

They never seem to be for me, either. I've completed the mission using only henchies, but you constantly have to keep rezzing them because as soon as they run into mursaat (AFTER an infusion run), they die. It's a pain. Anet should fix.

Why should they change the way they designed the mission because
people that don't want to play through the game are inconvenianced?
They implimented unlock in PvP because they didn't want to have to
play in the PvE side to get their stuff. So what's the excuse for PvEers
wanting to run through missions anyway?
If he got stuck somewhere because one of us rushed through... back
track and hunt him down. If that's too much trouble for you....
