I was wondering, if I had 9 or less max health and I had Protective Spirit, would I take 0 or 1 damage each attack? Ie, does damage round up or down? Thanks.

I believe the answer is '1 damage'. I remember having a 55 monk that after dp had 1 hp, and he died taking 1 damage.

Yeah, even if you could get 10 hp, you take 1 dmg. I'm not totally sure about this, but yesterday i was 55ing, and died, and came up with a way to get 11 hp, I think i kept my runes on, but carried a +XXhp offhand

Similarly, with enchantment mods (eg enchantments last 17% longer), are these accurate to the 100ths of a second, or are the rounded up or down to the nearest second?

Eg PS lasting 21 seconds, add in a 17% mod =24.57s or 25s or 25s ? If it rounds up, then there's no difference between a +17% mod and a +19% mod.

Damage is rounded but durations are not (Or at least they have a higher precision). There are skills with 3/4 second activation, remember.

I'm pretty sure enchantment durations are rounded to the nearest integer. Don't quote me on that though, I could be mis-remembering things.

At 17 HP when 55ing, I was taking 1 dmg per hit with Prot Spirit, so I have no idea how they round in GW....

At 8 HP (55 with DP) you take 1 dmg >_<

the best health to have using prot spirit is 19hp you will still take one damage each hit.

It would be nice to know their standards on rounding, I have always wondered this also.
With Prot Spirit, it rounds down to the nearest 10. Examples...
  • 50-59 HP= 5 damage.
  • 40-49 HP= 4 damage.
  • 30-39 HP= 3 damage.
  • 20-29 HP= 2 damage.
  • 1-19 HP= 1 damage.
  • 0 HP = dead.

I believe skills' durations are rounded down to the nearest whole second, and skills' casting times down to the nearest quarter-second (with Fast Casting). That's not confirmed, it's just what I believe is true and correct me if I'm wrong.

A quarter-second precision for time rounding sounds about logical but perhaps they went as far as 1/8 or 1/16 seconds.

One thing: I have made some experiments with Energizing Wind and Quickening Zephyr and skill durations did not seem to be rounded down to integers. Granted, it's hard for a human being to perceive small fractions of seconds but after repeated timings, you can at least feel that something seems to take just a bit longer than 19 seconds but not exactly 20 seconds either.

So, I am pretty sure both activation (casting) and duration times have more precision than whole seconds.

Edit: Meh, I was talking, of course, about the skill recharge times while I was babbling on above. Durations are something else entirely. That said, I still have no reason to believe that durations would be rounded down while activation and recharge times appear to be fractional.

If you only have one health point you will die immediately if you get hit, even if you have +10 health regen and prot bond on. but yes it still is only 1 dmg.

quite simple..
max hp/10 rounded down
but with a minimum of 1 damage

also, i think some skills go through prot spirit because they are not considered "damage" but rather "lose health"

You are right. Lifestealing skills are not affected by the PS at all. The same is true for degens caused by poison, bleeding and hexes.

well its obvious that degen is not affected. if it was you wouldn't be able to use mending and healing breeze with PS, also its the easiest way besides vamp skills to kill a 55 monk in arena

IIRC, Protective Spirit doensn't work if you have less than 5 health. It's been a while since I've tried to get just under that so I don't really remember.

Prot spirit rounds down, but cant round down to 0, only 1. 'Perfect 55 health' is 19 for this reason.
