its gonna be hard to complete factions
Matthew The Holy
i think its gonna be quite hard to complete factions , because most people are going to be the new proffesions , and for co-op missions balanced partys are most efficient . try completeing a co-op with 4-6-8 assasins
eSe
not really imma want skills for my monk and my warrior before i try assasins

Nah, I've heard lots of people saying they'll make new characters using the new professions as secondaries because so many people will be making them as primaries. (That's what I'm planning on doing) So it should balance out somehow!
sir lockt
Yup.. in most forums a thread was started what your first character was to test out.
Ppl without all profs right now (so those who dont own multiple accounts) almost all stated they would start with a primary prophesies profession first. with a sec faction prof on it.
personally i am going to start with a mesmer, and will bring my monk to cantha asap and more ppl I talked to want to do the same.
Besides this: if the game is unbalanced by profs ppl will start the older profs, just to be quick in parties. The same happened in chap 1 with the monks. The first weeks after release a massive shortage of monks was present (I had 10 blind invites in the high-end missions within 10 secs after entereing an area). Ppl started monks for that reason... the same will happen in factions... dont worry: it will take to long as you said if this will not happen... so it will happen!

If there is shortage then grab a henchie

If Factions is going to be as easy as Prophecies, henchmen FTW! In fact, during the FPE, I did all the Luxon quests with hench, and I was using a crappy warrior at that time, cause you had to create a new one. So if I'll go their with my current warrior, well you catch my drift.
I really hope that Factions will be more of a challange than Prophecies

As i wont be able to create a character on the early acess day as ive used my 4th charcater slot up just now(after reaching rank 6)i will probably take my monk ranger and necro over to get all the 25 new skills for each prophecies profesion then on release day ill create my lovely ritualist ^ ^

Unless factions is going to prove to be *much* harder, then this won't be a problem.
You don't even *need* a monk to do most missions. Sure, they help allow for a greater margin of error, but they are not needed.
You've never been bored and decided .. why not, this mission i'll make and all the same class team? 8 rangers or 8 mesmers for example? Not long ago i did iron mines with a full ranger team because most peoples idea of a *mixed and balanced team* doesn't include rangers (which is a entirely separate rant, and why occasionally full ranger or mesmer teams do there thing). But the mines aren't that hard .. full teams of the same class have completed harder places before.
Every once and a while i've heard of groups made up of only 1 primary completing many other places for the fun of it. Normally they aren't all the same guild .. just a pug with a purpose. I know a little while back there was even a screenshot of someone with a empty skill bar and 7 henchies completing thunderhead keep (just further proof that the game really isn't that hard if you actually think about what you're doing).
People are delusional in thinking that you *need* a mixed group to do things.
Mixed groups are great, and fair, and allow for tasks to be divided easier, but are far from necessary.
If you did decide you needed to pack monks .. at this point i'm happy to remark that theres a good chance that a team made up of ... 6 random assasin's and 2 henchie monks could complete the game if they put their minds to it.

Although many people will be playing as Assassins and Ritualists, just as many people will be playing their characters of existing professions, so I don't think we'll see to much of a shortage. Plus, even if you can't find any Monks, Rt/Mo's will make just as good healers!
And don't forget that just about any mission in Prophecies could be completed with henchmen only. So no need to worry, we won't get stuck simply because of a lack of certain professions.

yea, becasue you dont get a slots untill offical release, Im going through the game as my existing characters first
Sidra
Yep, I'll be bringing my ranger through. That scouts armor looks tasty. And, I think the assassin craze will die down once people see how uh... odd their armor looks. The only good armor i've seen was the Kurzick 15k. But I digress, who cares how many characters there are of each type? People will still find a way to make balanced groups, or just create some build making it so that people will WANT 4 assassins on their team. Just saying.

Give it a couple of days..

First day will be the best day for Monks to sell themselves out
Er, I mean, Monastery training strictly forbids this, cough cough.

I have been playing my necro since just about day one, but since a month ago, I have gotten a warrior, Ranger, Ele all ascended in anticipation of doing factions. I have a monk now ready to do the desert quests.
In factions I plan on doing another Necro,Mesmer, Rit and Assasin primaries (I have 2 accounts) I plan on doing the necro first while I wait for the fan base decide what are good builds for an Assasin (I am wanting to try A/W but want to see what comes of that build) I am also toying with Rit/Ranger (spirit caster)or Rit/Monk(smiter/or healer) But I usually wait to see what the builds are.
So basically I am gonna wait to see what good assasin builds are out there and then create one.

But back on topic, like others said if your missing certain classes that you deem "necessary" then just grab the hench that comes closes to what you need.

I'll be bringing my ranger(main character) over to shoot things and get phat bows. I'll also either ressurect my monk or recreate my mid-level necro in factions. I'll finish ascending my warrior and then decide what to do with him later.
Guardian of the Light
Cantha probably is going to be invaded with runners from Tryia who do all the missions for people on day 1.
eternal pho
nope im probably finishing my tank then ele in co-op before creating an assassin.
Theos
Expect to see alot more rits than assassins, I honestly don't think that assassin will become very popular as it doesn't fit into the stupid mind set over half of PVE players have; hack and slash, hit button big damage, me crush! You have to pay a high amount of attention if you actually want to accomplish anything, alot like its fellow Lyssa class; Mesmer. Ritualists are not "easy" per se but the spirit spam will make even morons feel like they have accomplished something. Also their females... but thats for another subject. Also alot of people will be taking their own personal chars through Factions or making new old class characters for the fun of it.
From what I saw, the hatchery mission with those turtles took a high level of coordination to pull off, henchies were somewhat lacking but they pulled it off so Nothing answered.

In the early missions, this will be true (for the most part), but when you get to the Lions Arch type outpost, you'll start questing with Prophecies characters as well.

To me, the new professions don't seem too.. exciting to me. I'm going to make a monk, and have 1 character slot free for whatever I want to make later.
Serafita Kayin
I'm making my warrior in Cantha, as I want new faces, etc. I've got my ritualist waiting, and I may or may not make an assassin, I kinda liked the play style but I'm not sure if it would wear on me.
Though I know Serafita's gonna hit the boat to Cantha for new bows...

My friend and I share our two accounts, so we have a char of each profession, so we will have 12 slots, we will probably make an assassin on one account, a ritualist on the other account, then use the two slots for whatever.
draxynnic
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but during the FPE I didn't notice a serious imbalance of classes. There did seem to be a bias towards the new professions, of course, but there were enough members of existing professions that, if the balance remains the same, means that it shouldn't be too hard to put together balanced parties. (It might be a bit difficult for Assassins to find parties in a similar manner to Warriors now, but that's a problem of too many of one profession rather than too few, and shouldn't really bother players of other professions)
Laibeus Lord
Interrupt Ranger here for hire hehe.
Going R/Rt. My Ascalonian character will visit and finish the Cantha missions and quests before I start a new Cantha character.

The number of people playing the characters will slowly level out. People will create new characters with the new professions and will simply add that character to the characters they already have, or they will become bored with it and delete it. In the end there will still be more melee characters running around than probably anything else. That is only natural though, given that most people seem to think that fantasy games are all about swinging a sword around.
Eclair
I think the henchies are more than good enough to own PvE with.
I mean, we get EARTH henchies!
We get REALLY good interrupters, its like having a Devourer on your side^^

i am pretty sure there is gonna be a great influx of assassin and ritualist..bleh..and lead to many jobless assassin around..bleh..=P
Poison Ivy
Don't forget, Factions is almost like a bump to GW, hopefully we can get some new people to play the game, lots of new people...(Which most of them will end up making an Assassin)
Sidrakket
...and then deleting it to make a warrior=p
Im going to make an assassin, i think they look kind of stupid, and run stupid (its not that im against the idea of the little ninja run thing they do, i just think they did it wrong) but dammit, i played one and just loved it 0_0 i was zooming all over the place being an anoying little bastard droping the occasional massive spike~ And their energy regen(and awesome management skills) make them super flexible as a platform for all sorts of other stuff. They ARE like the melee version of the mesmer insofar as they are versitile because they get alot of usefull skills. Lots of options for pve and pvp.
If only they didint look so bad=P I hope most people make rits or something else ><

With due seriousness though, running should not be as prevalent in factions, given the density of the map. From what I can gather there will be nothing quite like the droknar's run in factions (thank god, I hate the droks run, both as a runner and a runnee for it's length and general evilness.)
Getting back to the main topic, I dont honestly believe it will be dilficult to complete factions. Yes, I'll be making my nubsauce assassin, just like everyone else, but with the wealth of useful henchmen available in factions, it really shouldnt matter. By the way, my opinion: Luxon Hench>Kurzick Hench in practicality, Brutus>All Other Hench in coolness

The beauty of the game is that despite having a end game mission followed by Titans quests, you dont really need to finish or do any of them to play the game like any other MMO infact the more you try to rush to end point of the game to get any form of satifaction, its more likely you burn out faster and feel theres nothing for you to do after doing Hell and completing titan quest. Same thing applies for Faction. I dont really set any real goals to rush my toons but rather playing them while experiementing new builds, farm some, play some missions with guildies again, its all part of the interaction that make the gaming experience worth the time we invest into playing GW.
Personally i feel the presence of those end game missions/quest are infact part of the bussiness model to encourage players to think that way. Remember Anet dont make more monies if you continue to play after you bought the game :P but rather depends on your support of their new expansions.
So in short dont get too worried about racing to finish but of course if you are hardcore PvP player only, then ingore everything i just said and go get yourself a runner blah.

I love the new henchmen they added. for Gods sake they added like 3 new melee henchmen alone.something like 9 caster ones. and 2 Archers.

All Asns and Rts' team.......hmm....
Maybe its not bad.
Asn-->dmg dealer or tank
Rt-->healer or supporter
lol, at least they can work in pve.

Well once they make char slots available for purchase I'll be taking an Ele, Necro and Mesmer through Cantha.

I'll be taking my monk in there to finish up factions. Then finishing up the secondary quests and unlocking skills with my 120 skillpoints..
Then I'll find where the good armor is hidden and bring my warrior in for some sentinal armor and start running.

It might be tough, but I think it will work out. My first Factions character will probably be a W/R, so not every veteran will be using the new classes. (My other planned Factions character will be R/A, running skills ftw!).
JoDiamonds
Even if a lot of people make primary ritualists or assassins (I'll freely admit that I will, because I've played every other class as primary a bunch through multiple accounts), I don't think many people will make Rt/A or A/Rt. Since every character is dual-class, most of the classes will be represented. Also, since Rits can be perfectly good healers (or E/Rt, or Rt/Mo), that will relieve one potential problem that people perceive. (Like many others, I think primary healers just aren't always necessary, but it does make things simpler by allowing cookie cutter gameplay -- do whatever you want, and expect the healer to save you.)
lagrand1
Whatever---I've saved up 4 black dyes to use on my starting Assassin armor. Looking forward to that style of play, annoy the crap out of everyone on other team.
It'll work out. Who knows, maybe the all ass. team will be like an all ranger team, total ownage.
After seeing some of the amazing builds people have come up with, I know we'll find a way to make it work.
